Are there any laws in CA that prohibit the use or installation of lake pipes on a '51? Regardless if there are/are not laws; does anyone have experience with cops in so cal and lake pipes?

    thanks,
    Ghost

I see plenty of cars running them.

I'm guessing the only issues witt the cops would be sound issues if you car is too loud?

i ran lake pipes w/ 17" glasspacks...pulled up next to cops they never said nuthin...i'm runnin dump tubes now w/ the same glasspacks....

  7. No laws on running lake pipes, just decibel levels. If you run enough baffles you should be fine. But why puss out from the start. At least run around open till you get your first ticket! It's only a fix-it ticket $10 bux! haha

I have lakes on my caddy w. no baffles, just regular old side pipes. It's loud as hell and I want to know what they can and can't hit me for. (yes, yes, I know they can do whatever the hell they want)

I know guys on bikes get tickets all the time for modifying their exhaust. Also, all you guys in LA, Orange and SD county with lake pipes, do the cops give you a hard time?

Nope. Ryan has rules for all of us to follow on here. It's simple. It's his board, his rules, and he if asks you for an intro, you do one. ;)

I've never had any problems and I have no baffles. From what I've seen, the cops will pull you over if you're fucking around (racing, burn outs...etc) Bikes around here are louder.

They normally sound like shit anyways, its usually a SBC with a million miles on it with open pipes! I have friends with them I don't think they have been bugged, but if your acting like a fucking idiot odds you will get a ticket!

I run em in San Diego, no tix yet. Just drove home from Mission beach, up along mission boulevard and through PB with a cop following me ever since I turned at the roller coaster. Brake lights ain't working either. All I got when he pulled off my tail around the 5 freeway was a thumbs up!

cool man, my tags are bad and I got a busted tail light along with the lake pipes and I have not had a problem around my part. I've been taking her farther and farther out of my area and wanted to know if you guys have had any issues. Thanks for the replies - G
