I built this heap for teh sole purpose of hauling shit that was too big to fit in the Model A. It is not terribly cool, but I can beat teh hell out of it and she never complains.

Guess by now you have gathered that we were funning ya for wanting to jump on a bandwagon.
    Back in the day shop trucks were the same as now;
Regular shops would have a POS that they would perform maintenance tests on. You know, when the customer comes in and says "How long can I go without doing this?" Shop knows, 'cause they let the truck go that long. :D
Never washed, never had the oil changed, just topped up when the light came on... The kind of vehicle that came with 5 minutes of verbal instructions before the keys were handed over.

The nicer shops or the guys that wanted to make a statement had a new or couple year old truck that was kept up, maybe modified a little. The point is, both worked for a living. Even the nice one had to run for lunch and parts, drop customers off, and haul whatever the shop needed.
    Honest, not tarted up.

    Thanks ratster,
I told one of my kids he could have it when he gets back from iraq so I put a 350/200r4 in it so he didn't have to fix the 6cyl.3 on the tree that couldn't get out of its own way. I need to put disc on front so he can get it stoped. Do you happen to know the cheap way or do I have to order a kit?

  11. I've always been a fan of signs on side boards. I'm going with door signs because of my utility boxes...........Jim

    haha.

Put a boom on it and call it some generic wrecking name and under the info or on the back put "we meet by accident" HAHAHA.

I say its your truck make it yours. I'm with everyone else i dont like the cheesy logos and thats why i dont have em on mine. but if you like em put em on there. If you are really using it to haul stuff to and from swap meets/shows barnfinds what ever just give the truck a god once over upgrade your brakes keep some extra stuff in your cab you know the usuall some tools and stuff.

  15. You guys are missing the the key words in the question.

When you read the question closely it would appear that the first move would be easy.

You need to be a truck.

    Doc.

So I have a shop and a 33 ford pu. I want to have my shop lettering put on it, not so much a logo but just the business name and number etc. I drive it a good 4 times a week so far to and from work, and thought it would be good advertisement. Is this just faux pau, or is this a legetimate reason to do it. I will do it anyway but now I am just curious on the average hambers take on it. Kind of Like Stitchn's truck, it is a legit representation of what he does, anything wrong with that?

I think it would be cool if it looked like 1933 art. No different that flames, stripes, clean shine or flat black. imho

It good advertisement, and if any of your moron employees do something stupid in your truck you will get a call. Usually before they return from wherever you sent them.

Then that would be bad advertisement wouldn't it? I call my big Dodge Dually my shop truck, and I have a shop, but there's no logo on it. It does what it's supposed to do...haul shit around, and it doesn't need a "HEY LOOK AT ME" on the doors.

Don't care much about shop logos one way or the other but OT or not that 70 Charger is gonna be badass when it's done.

I made such a call (actually an email) on one of those moron drivers in a company truck last week. He thought that because he was two states away from home he could get away with extremely aggressive and stupid driving.
Should have remembered that he had the company sign on the door of the truck and Google works.

Falcon, that little white truck looks like the perfect shop truck just as it sits and doesn't need anything else. Although every shop I worked in that had a shop truck did keep them clean inside an out even if we did haul parts every day in them.
If you have a genuine company logo and want to advertise on the side of the truck so be it as long as you have the company to go along with the logo.

Nothing like having the local busybodies get in an uproar because they spotted your shop truck with it's sign on the door sitting in front of one of the local watering holes.

I wouldnt paint a fake logo on it like they were sayin some one will spot it and ask you about thinking its a real shop asking what kinda work you'll do if you can restore their dodge aspen and eventually you'll just paint over the logo cause you'll get sick of all the people askin if you will work on their car. It happend to my buddy he was dumb enough to put his number on there and guess what...people called. I laughed like hell cause I told him to just leave it. but like I always tell people that would look at my cars and pick them apart. "If I wanted your opinion on how to build MY hotrod I would have called you when I was building it"

A shop, and a reason to have a truck for it.

  28. Most shops I have worked at, our parts/ lunch/ beer getter was a stand up piece of shit beater of truck. No way in hell would any of my boss' put their logo on the door. reason being you have now made that turd your calling card and set an example and first impression of the type of CRAP you build. Just make it clean, and cary a stack of business cards with you. But hey if you are into fake things, you can buy a bolt on wanna be quick change cover and a bolt on hood scoop that looks like you have a serious blower. And possibly a exhaust system like this
