Anyone else in the Commonwealth wait forever on these clowns for paperwork?? I mean I'm use to the wait ( we know how they are ) but just waited near 2 months for a ***le,,and the damn Issue date say the 24 th of July ???????????? What takes these people so long ?? sorry bout that
I'm just about ready to enter this circus ring. I can't start the paperwork ahead of time, because I have to get the vehicle inspected through the "enhanced" vehicle inspection thing. I can't apply for the PA "Street Rod" ***le until the thing p***es inspection. The scenario that scares me is what if they deny my application for some detail & it takes them two months to get the denial to me!? By the time I would ultimately satisfy them, the snow will be flying & I'd have to live through the winter to really enjoy this thing I've been building for going on three years. Egads..
NY is reg only on old cars - same day if you have paperwork, like 6 weeks on a transferrible if you have no paperwork - how's that worse? I may end up in PA next year, so I'm curious how their ***le and inspection rules work too. The old wives tale here is you can't even have a spot of rust on the outside of the car or it doesn't p***. That's kind of a problem if your car has a good patinia going.
Saw somewhere ( may have been PA back in the day ) where guy failed for the holes in the body where the trim was affixed,,he put pieces of duct tape over every hole,,they said exhaust could get in there .. I have done the NY reggie transfer here in PA and it went very smooth,,also was an Older Woman who was Notary at the time ans was aware of the no ***les before 73,,Though with newer folks I would be taking some kinda info to show them.
Having lived in both states now, I have to say you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! Not even close!!! NY beats the %*@# out of PA any day of the week. Every transaction I've done up here so far has been easy, polite, and quick with no questions asked. PA DMV protocol is based on some kind of medieval torture procedure.
Just went through the Pa. street rod deal[took about a month]The car has to be inspected by a "enhanced inspection station" prior to submitting the paperwork.I visited the inspection station and asked what he was looking for prior to taking the car in.The inpector also was a notary so he could handle everything in one visit.Actually it went smoother than I antcipated.Phil
Yep, I did that too when I lived there. It was kind of a pain in the ***. It took a few trips, cost a lot of dough, and then I had to wait 3 months for my plates and go BACK to the inspection station again to get my sticker! Contrastingly, when I moved to NY, I went to the DMV, paid the $58 (a fraction of the ***le transfer/registration/street rod enhanced inspection/taxes that PA charges) and walked out with my plates! Then I drove down to the garage and paid my $10 for the inspection. Much easier!
you're lucky you got it at all..the person who processed it did it while working for nothing that day. they can't even get together enough to pay the workers..and when they finally do the poor guys an gals get a big check which puts them in a higher tax bracket where they lose money. screwed either way..good job Rendell!
Get a Tag & ***le service to do your paper work headaches ! If you get your local congressman or senator to do them for you that will get your tags much faster . I was told by more than a few people that it works much better that way . It will be my turn in a year or so ! GOOD LUCK !
I got some strange looks at a MD DMV when I took in the transferable registration(for my 29) from NY. Little s**** of paper the size of a business card with a faded signature. 10 minutes later I had MD year of vehicle plates and a permanent registration. On the other hand the last three cars I've gotten from PA have been a paperwork nightmare as well as the last one I sold to a PA resident.
