I am new to the Forum. I just bought a 29 Ford roadster project that needs upgrading. I'm sure this has been done a thousand times but I need help on figuring out what to use for comfortable and safe clutch and brake pedals. The current pedals are from a 50 Merc, and driving this thing this way is a disaster waiting to happen. I am also going to change the steering box and steering column which was mounted too low and gets in the way. The engine is a 350 Chevy with a 5 speed T50 ****** . I would appreciate any help to get me moving in the right direction. I will consider any options including using vintage parts or a modern kit if available. Thanks for any help. Bill Gould Plymouth ma.

You can buy complete pedal set ups. They can be under the floor or you can go to swing pedals mounted under the dash. Both are good options just choose one and go for it. From what you say cheap doesnt work so go tried and true. There is lots of tech articles here and in hotrod mags with articles. Good luck you can do it

If you start using billet stuff you'll find your not going to very popular around here. Just a heads up that could save you a lot of grief.
A couple of pictures of what your dealing with would go a long way toward getting help with your problem.
I'm sure you noticed the focus of this forum which is traditional hot rods and customs. NO room for "street rods"..............if you don't know the difference it might be better for you to lurk for awhile and learn about this place. Just a word to the wise.

I think if the current pedals are from a 50 Merc it's not a street rod. yet...

where did he say billet?(he said modern components...which a **** of of cars happen to have on this forum) ...and whats wrong with that roadster?..I happen to know a bit about that car.. met and hungout with its owner....AND he flogged the **** out of it last weekend at the strip...Drove it from Long Island to motor speedway where it sat in the rain overnight, and flogged the next day...WTF is the HAMB coming to....

as someone has said, there are under and firewall mounts...If you go the old route, the old Chevy truck master/clutch set up was popular, as were Ansen hanging pedals....under the floor, Brookville has sets that work well with a small bracket mod to stiffen them up....It all depends on the era you are looking for...Wilwood has race car stuff I've been seeing more and more of...best of luck.

Sorry, fellas, that I used the term Street Rod. I am new to this forum and I guess I meant hot rod. This is my first hot rod and I appreciate your help in straightening me out. My 29 hot rod was pieced together with 50 Merc,49 Ford parts and who knows what else. The congestion around the steering column is just awful.

There's good reason why that s**** throttle pedal is so popular. It just fits so nice. That's what I'll use if the GM junkyard part I'm using doesn't work out! :)

I don't have a model A though. I used a universal brake pedal finally after I got tired of looking through the junkyard for a stock pedal, it just wasn't worth the h***le after trying a few of them.

Take your timem, get it right, bad pedal setup , well , it's all too common and it ****s

Was this car built by Three Crowns from Reno? Are they still building cars? I saw one of their roadsters at the Silver Auction last year. Nice car.
