Can you guys show me some pics of hoods on channeled model a's. Just curious about how the bottoms look covering the frame (or not) and different methods of securing the hood at the bottom. Thanks guys
You'd have to cut off the horns and pinch the frame to narrower than the radiator shell to have the hood cover the frame all the way to the shell. That is unless you cut a "S" jog out of the bottom edge, or bent it out and around the frame at the front. Dzus fasteners are the trad. hotrod hood hold downs. It's s'posed to be pronounced Zooss but we usta call them Duzz-us ****ons
there is a gold channeled '32 roadster running around CA with a full hood. i can't find pics though. it looks amazing.
I wish I could find some examples but this is the only one. It's a '32 but I thought it would help a bit. The Collegiate Coupe as seen on the JJ and 1951 Hot Rod Cover
I don't have any pics on this laptop (back home I do) but pretty much every channeled model A Ive seen with a full hood has an "S"-Shaped reveal at the bottom of the hoodside for frame clearence. Thats the only way to go unless you pinch the frame, but on a model A that wouldn't leave room for the grill shell. I plan to eventually run a hood on my roadster so this thread would be a great deal of help if we got some pictures going.
I'm going to be making one for mine as well. Channeled 4". I have severely pinched frame though. Wish I had it done so I could share.
