TuTone here. New to this board but not the "car crazy" hobby. I am retired and I am a disabled Vietnam Vet. There are alot more years behind me than in the future. I'm slower, balding, not as agile and somewhat forgetful; but my passion for anything on wheels has never waned! My dad and grandfather were at first shadetree wrench turners[from the '20's till the 50's] then later on became mechanics at a MOPAR dealership in SE Misouri. They both had me outside with them, tinkering with cars and trucks when I was just five years old[1953]. They allowed me to get greasy and bust my knuckles anytime I wanted. In fact, they seemed to think I was pretty cute with oil and blood-soaked hands. Mom begged to differ!
So I suppose I got hooked and started becoming a motorhead, thanks to Dad and my Grandad. Built my first model car when I was about eight or nine and soon learned about blowing them up with cherry bombs after they were built. Over the years I have[had] amassed a massive collection of modelcars...about two thousand or so. Only built about 100; maybe a few more.
Got into hotrodding and racing at 16 years old. With help from my auto mechanics class, we stuffed a 390 Ford V-8 and four speed to replace the Y block 272 boat anchor in my '55 Customline. That old Ford sure traveled; a 1/4 mile at a time in the mid-sixties.
Long story shortened...I started working in retail, the big box[WM] in management and no longer had time to build. I had to farm out all work on whatever hunk of antique sheet metal I had pulled out of the salvage yards. I've had a bunch; cars, old trucks, old motorcycles, old tractors etc. A little later I'll post a few snapshots of some of the rods I have had.
I love this board and I'm so humbled by the uploaded content from all of you; especially the artwork. The H.A.M.B. has become a twice a day habit for me. It's much better therapy than taking medicine.
    regards
    :),
