This comes up from time to time. You have to determine what's important to you and do some research, http://www.findyourspot.com/
For bland, statistical data, try http://www.city-data.com/
They also have forums, but they can be pretty one-sided.
Then talk to the people, that's here and any other forums of your interests.
    Good Luck on your decision!

Would strongly recommend you NOT move to Atlanta. ATL has almost all of the same problems as CA (high cost of living, no jobs, overcrowding, gridlocked traffic) and none of the benefits. I lived in ATL for almost twenty years and would rather shoot myself than go back. Not even to visit family.

The Tennesee Valley area ain't so bad, fairly low cost of living, and because of the Redstone Arsenal micro-economy the recession hasn't hit quite as hard as in other locales. Still not where I wanna be but it's okay for now.

Texas sounds pretty okay, but damn son, is there anyplace in TX where it ain't 150 degrees and humid from March till November?

Outta Cinci ? It's good enough for The Great Peter Frampton ! ! ! :D

Sometimes homes are cheap 'cause you can't get a good paying job in that area. Make sure you do your homework first before you move. It sounds to me like you're going wherever your girl is going anyways. Good Luck.

No were making a decision together and Savannah came up because of the art school, and yes I have been doing my homework housing prices in Austin seem to be on par with cincinnati at least the areas of cincinnati I would live in, and by the way Austin was my choice. Thanks though A little Odd

  10. Really? How does not paying taxes and mooching off the system keep us afloat?

Save some cash. Come visit New Jersey for a week and you'll be in love with Cincinnati all over again!

    HAHA. We are Awesome!

Actually, I have no idea why I stay here. I think I just like to tell everyone I'm from here so they think I'm a bad-ass. Really need a lot of patience and what seems like a lot of money lately.

Don't forget. In Oklahoma you can still get gas without ethanol in it. Have to drive to TEXAS to get real beer though.

Texas has their own beer also Lone Star, I guess cincinnati does too but its hudephol.

  19. Plenty of great-paying jobs in Oklahoma, if you are directing your comments North. Rated seciond in the USA for affordability and quality-of-life! We have lower overall taxes (TX has no state income tax, but more than make up for that in high property taxes!), great climate, tons of things to do, and if the need or want arises to drive to DFW for wacko Texan watching, it's just 2-1/2 hours away!

Yiou can get 6% here in OK, just not at the c-store! Besides, any brewery will tell you that if you not aware if you are drinking 3.2% or 6% beer, you never know the difference, and you'll get drunk drinking the same number of either. The difference is primarily in the drinker's mind! Yes, really.

Um...you talkin' to me? I was referring to any area in the country including a part of Texas as stated in previous posts. I'd prefer living in OK but my children would probably miss me. Count me as wacko Texan...I guess.

WV makes me want to jam a steel spike through my temple. Other than that, it's OK.

  28. New Jersey, the only place I've been so far where you can travel 30 miles down the main drag that's three lanes, divided, has highway-style ramps here and there, and is apparently so busy in the daytime that the gas stations and Dunkin Donuts and so on will build one on the southbound side, and within a mile or two another on the northbound side, and all open 24 hours. Even if they let you make left turns apparently it would take forever.

Now in Syracuse (NY) we have a road like that, but it's only about 4 or 5 miles long and has quite a few vacancies along the way. Then again we're in the top ten list for cities that have been losing population the last 10 years, so it's not like we have traffic either.
