I need some opinions, its either the stock flatty with a mitchell od to get me on the fwy & out of town, or this 8ba with Granatelli heads/intake, with a t5 to banjo which means i have to have ladder bars, i think (ugh). Are there any better looking options for locking down the rear end with open drive?

i agree, its been rebuilt about 1k ago, has winfield head and ansen intake/stromberg, suprisingly quick, and if i can squeeze another 10mph out of it i will be a happy man.

get an overdrive from a late model (49-54) ford.

Neighbor has one in his daily driver 32 sedan, banger to boot!

says it'll cruise 80 all day

Whiteyford, what are the carbs on your 3 carb set-up? I am puzzling over a set of mine. Thanks

  16. That is a great dilema to be in. That coupe looks killer, as does that v8. Either way, you're stoked!

  20. Banger power with a t5 is the set-up. 65mph cruising speed. Sounds like you have a pretty stout set-up with all those speed parts. Why waste the oppertunity to join a minority with us moded banger folks? Do you follow the monthly banger threads at all?-Weeks

Ok this may be a really stupid question but is there an issue running open drive with radius rods?

not if you have some type of torque arm, and the radius rods are unsplit, or at least not moved to the frame rails. you need to keep the radius rods triangulated to allow for independent rear wheel articulation, you also need a torque arm, or some type of locating device for your rear axle so it does not rotate due to torque. radius rods alone will not do this, may work for a while, but eventually, watchout!!!

  25. The radius rods need to be welded up also that is one of the main things done with the conversion.-Weeks

I'm biased toward ground t******* cars here but Bangers are really cool and less seen. The thing is a good built flatty, won't leave you praying for help just to merge onto the highway. I'd decide how slow do you mind going here and what you plan to use the car for exactly? I know what a stock banger is like aswell as a few with some speed stuff on it, I'd just be sure that's what you want before building it that way. Bum a ride in a banger car and see if that's what you really want...

Go the Banger route. A lot rarer at the shows. I'm going banger with a T5. I think it will be more fun.

The easiest way out is to build another for the flatty , that way you can have both !
I would have a hard time also because they both are great either way . The banger is a killer the way it is now but the flatty really looks good too ! A flatty with 3 deuces and alum heads is really hard to turn down !
