I was just curious; what are the requirements to bring a non ***led car (bill of sale only) into Canada from the states? I'm helping a buddy sell a 36 Pontiac and recieved a little iterest from up north and am not sure what the requirements are. Thank you.
AFAIK...most Canadian provinces don't use ***les for vehicles. Every car I've bought or sold in both Manitoba & Alberta have been done with a simple bill of sale.
Paperwork---bill of sale, ***le, what have you needs to physically be at the port of entry the car will cross at a couple days ahead. Watched them unload a pretty sweet 70 Charger because the paperwork wasn't advanced last time I was up there. Coming back into the states---much easier. Marcy
The official Government site. http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/safevehicles/importation/index.htm The Third party brokerage firm that the government has contracted to administer the importations. http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html There seem to be quite a few other scammers asking for fees to do this work for you. Best to inform yourself.
This page has a lot of info including the 72 hours advance notice but more for running cars than projects http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html more info here---sounds like ***led would be best http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183609 Marcy
Don't - always get a ***LE or TRANSFERABLE REGISTRATION before even buying a car in the US and attempting to bring a car over. It looks me almost a year to get a "bill of sale" car across the boarder.
