I am having a HORRIBLE experience with Rod Craft in Yakima, WA. I ordered some fiberglass parts over a month ago and was told they would ship immediately. Well after a few weeks passed by I called to see what was up, and my credit card had been charged for parts and shipping already. They siad opps, sorry forgot about your order we'll get right on it. I wait almost 2 more weeks, nothing, so I call and e-mail, with no response, then finally I got one of the employees, and was told they would get me a tracking # and call back, well I let 4 days go by and no e-mail or call. So I call again, I finally get a tracking #. I look up the tracking # and it gave a ship out date and delivery date, well they have since come and gone. So I call Fed Ex, they say that Rod Craft ordered the shipping label and # but never sent a package. So I call today and talk with the owner who by the way is quite an ass, butI kept my cool and he told me he would figure out what happened and get right back to me, well that was nearly 6 hrs ago, and now no one will answer the phone or has returned an e-mail. These guys do 33, 40 and 41 Willys and parts. I just wanted to let any Current, and future Willys owners know my experience with them. I have contacted my Credit card company, and plan to call the Attorney Generals office in WA and let them know of these business practices. Beware of Rod Craft inc!!!
Yea what he said. I'd probably already be on the phone to the Attorney General's office for all the good it will do. If he has enough complaints maybe he'll look into it but you got to remember there is nothing you can do to effect the election from here. if you catch my drift. Sorry to here that there is yet another bad business in our little world. Growing trend these days if you can't hold a job go into business.
You are not alone. RodCraft lied on availability dates and ship dates repeatedly just to get my money. When parts arrived they were just horrible. Called and arranged to send them back to get promised refund. They said they would issue credit note when I ordered something else - told two weeks delivery on the new order. After repeated calls and more lies about ship date, three months later I cancelled the order. UPS guy shows up with package a few days later and I refused to accept the shipment - I had since ordered the parts elsewhere after cancelling the order with RodCraft. RodCraft refused to refund my money so I am out $$$. I have all the paperwork as proof. They will eventually go out of business and probably sooner rather than later. What goes round comes round and it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. Yep, that's Blake the Flake for you.
Yeah, he assured me a few minutes ago that the package did ship, but Fed Ex still says not, and I asked if anyone had checked the status other than me and was told no. So I called Blake back and no answer so I left a message explaining my legal intentions. I guess I'll give him another day or 2 and then report to my credit card, call the attorney general in WA and write letters to NSRA, GoodGuys, Hemmings etc. And get on more web sites like this one and spread the word. I really hope I at least get my money back. I wonder if I could file any charges for charging me to ship etc, and giving out false info etc? Bad thing is I'm in MO, and he is in WA. To far to drive for an ass kickin'. Little over $500 in parts that I can'y afford to take a hit on. Later, rusty.
If you don't have any luck with some local Yakima guy's; what about contacting the Yakima County Sheriff's department? http://www.co.yakima.wa.us/sheriff/default.asp
I'm not sure what to ask from a local other than going over to get my parts, kick his ass, or get my money back. or all of the above. any one interested?
for future reference, V.F.N. fiberglass is the way to go. They were actually ahed of schedule by a couple of days getting my order to me- which was a TON of parts. (64 g.t.o. front end, 55 chevy front end, G.T.O. decklid and bumper- all of which had to be made.) packing was immaculate, dedicated shipping, and at the end of the day, I couldn't have been happier. This stuff was "race weight" glass, but they do "street weight" as well.
I've been to Rod Craft on a shop tour during a poker run. It's just a small garage without many tools. I don't know how they ever make anything there. Oh, and I'll second the owner being an ass.
I was on a Vintiques poker run couple of years ago and met the owner as well; yup he seemed like another business guy with an attitude.
For those interested in steel Willys parts: Ferguson Coachbuilding http://www.fergusoncoachbuilding.com/ Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
I have met Blake many times, he made a nose and deck lid for my Willys. Everything fit great & I never had any problems. When I was concerned on shipping costs he agreed to meet me on Snoqualmie Pass at no charge to save on shipping. He does have a small shop and crew but he isn't a mass production business.
Well, looks like Rod Craft has shown up! If your legit dude, do an intro and follow the rules of the board, don't just sign up to defend yourself......er, I mean your buddy. It's unlikely a "never posted before" is going to garner much credibility when plenty of established members say otherwise.
I have dealt with this jack ass before. I really think he should be a painter with how much of a flakey lying con artist piece of shit he is
I don't really get the hostility. I felt obligated to describe my business experience with the guy. I don't dispute others complaints but merely have described my own. I may be a newbie to the HAMB but I have been involved in the automotive trade for 35 + years. My father was a mechanic and raised a family with his trade as well. I am not a liar and was simply doing a google search for the RODCRAFT website when this thread came up and with my experience it appeared very one sided. Too often the only voices that get heard are the angry people yelling. Dave Kirkland WA
Welcome to the HAMB Dave, things can get interesting here for sure. We don't worry about being politically correct and if we're wrong about something we'll admit it. Introduce yourself and join in. oj
Rod Craft is shit, over a years later and I only got about 3/4ths of the parts ordered, they fit like shit, and I was charged for all of it. That place can kiss my ass. You like them then by all means do business there. I will not!
I have a friend in Portland that gave this guy $18k over period of 12 months(this was for a roller body&chassis)..............never got his car and it looks like he never will.
I really should have mentioned, Randy F. is a stand up guy. I've talked with him personally a few different times. He has made parts for friends of mine in the past. I've also met a few people right here in KC who have worked personally with Randy and learned a wealth of knowledge from him, first hand. If today I wanted a steel piece and for it to be timely & quality.....I would turn to Randy. Cool........ Carl Hagan
