Nice car but in my opinion it's too clean too shiny and don't sit right .It's too high at the back and too low at the front for the back,it aint ever gonna be used on a daily basis and that defeats the object to my mind.My truck is gonna be used as a daily as it would have been in the 50's no two cars in the 50's for the hotrodder, i like em satin dented and bad tempered just my opinion though ..............Marq p.s mine will debut next year but i aint puttin it in for compe***ions or nout until then i will drive it through the winter to get some patina and some nice drive time

hell half the cars that are rebuilt down here end up on a ship bound for america- for every pre 49 car thats imported (i know were importing a heap of 60s stuff at the mo - impoalas and caddys) about 5 of ours get shipped overseas - same problem a lot of guys don't have the money and if theres and overseas buyer withmore cash - good on them - i get sad when i see some of my old cars again but i hope that the new owner is treating it good. - if you want to run with that at***ude - you better give the **** and germans back all there cars - borders mean **** - they are only there for govts to control stuff - hell europe was divided up by a bunch of buerecrats who had no idea about the people living there - we all bleed red -

I have to disagree with you Pete Joe, It is hard putting them together over here, and most things that end up here are the cars that American guys step over because they think they are ****ed. and all the **** with the african scams is just making it harder for us over here.

Marq that is my my five window in the link. It ain't to low or to high, it is as low as a 32 frame can go without notching the frame and without channeling the car.

    It's called a Highboy.

and who say's it doesn't get used every day?

and it doesn't get entered into "compe***ions"

I got an idea. Why don't the cars from these old-car wrecking yards that are shutting down get shipped overseas en m***e? If old American iron is really expensive overseas, couldn't you overseas guys make money off them if you could buy all these hulks for $50 each, and transport them? Better than getting crushed. Oh, wait, then we'd have to ship them all of our parts so they could restore them. [IMG]

I totally agree! We will take them and we will pay them! I liked your ending comment too... It is actually quite true... [IMG] But hey, we do have SOMETHING: http://personal.inet.fi/surf/hatama/FSRA_Sivut/fsra_market.htm

A lot of our finished rods go to Europe...mine included. It`s all down to money at the end of the day, they pay more, simple as that.

look at all the Triumph and BSA bikes that get shipped out to the U.S. not to mention all the Antiques, old London bridges and ocean liners [IMG]it`s just trade...if your short, buy some back, they hav`nt left the planet.

If you saw what G***er started with and how it`s turned out, you would`nt believe it..and that goes for a lot of the cars over here that were bought from America when the locals would`nt touch `em for free.

In saying all that, I can understand your viewpoint...just don`t totally agree.

At present I`m searching for a `36 3 window as close to stock as possible...I realise I`ll probably pay through the nose for it, but if I`m to get one then it`s the only way as there ar`nt any around here and I`m gonna have to ship one in.Top dollar to buy it, then ship it to the docks, then ship it to a port over here, then pick it up and bring it home after first giving the Customs man import duty plus tax spend thousands of pounds on it then pay £4.20($7.56)per gallon on gas.Believe me, the vast majority of your stock of cars are safe. It`s taken me 24 years of saving and building to get my stash together and every penny has gone through my Hot Rods. All the hot rod guys I know are hard working ordinary guys with families and they`re all long term fanatics who love old American cars...4 of the local lads running big blocks.. wtf..you only live once!

Petejoe..I`d feel a lot more pissed at the ****`eads who cut the back off of Caddies and Tri Chevs to make sofas and stuff or the film companies that wreck choice tin for fun or go whop some old stock car racer for smashing all that old treasure on the jalopy tracks back when... [IMG]

But the related stories of cars being sold inside of one state and outside of one state, I feel, doesnt relate.
I am talking of cars which were made in the states and Canada.
I really don't want this subject to get into the global economy issues. I am just stating my feelings about sending our cars to areas that make them inaccessible to our new Hamb generations.

Man if the money's green I dont care where it comes from. You have to watch for these turkeys with the phony cashier's checks - if they're paying you more than the car's worth, or you have to send them back any money - it's a scam. There are literally thousands of old cars all over the place here and general experience here is either guys don't want to pay what they're worth, or if you tell them 'hey, if someone doesn't take this it's going to s****' ... it gets crushed and no one cares. Or, you put it up for sale with an asking price and get these a-holes with the 'I can get one twice as good as yours for half as much' routine. I'd rather send it overseas and have it appreciated, not get a bunch of s--- for the price, and write that guy back to rub it in that it's gone and I had no problem getting my price on it. Some of these overseas guys will take a rusty POS you wouldn't touch if it was the last car left on earth and rebuild it better than new. They like weird stuff like 60-61 Dodges and Plymouths, too, stuff most the guys here wouldn't care if you crushed to total extinction. It took me digging out a '58 DeSoto ragtop one-of-519 car to find anyone here in the US buying cars. And one of the guys after that one is even a transplant from Sweden or Norway somewhere. I didn't even waste my time posting it on the cl***ified board here.

What it all comes down to is, there is literally piles of cars here, and I can't see where anyone gives much of a damn if they all get pressed. Maybe they're not all restorable or rodable cars - but there are parts on them. When they're gone - they're gone. No one is going to reproduce parts for most of them. Which has it's benefits, when I am 65 and can finally retire after selling the same '35 Ford racer everyone complained about at $5500, for $75,000 or some rediculous price - but for now, if the guys here want to complain and claim they can buy stuff cheaper somewhere else - let 'em, I'll send it overseas happily and to heck with those guys. The less BS I have to put up with the better.. and you guys who think it won't happen, how many million 97 carbs did Ford sell on cars - and now you want a core it's $125 or better? I'd imagine back in the day you could get 'em for $5 or $10 for a good used. I was amazed to sell Buick aluminum drums for $125 a pair - that I went out to the pull-your-part and picked up for $10 each, because they made something like 300,000 pair a year for close to 10 years anyhow. I didn't even ask that price, I let it get bid there.

My guess is that it would be the best for an overseas Hot Rodder to buy a well built car with as many reconditioned or new parts on it as possible.
Paint and upholsery are probably not as important.
    That can be done there.
But if a rare Engine or ****** ****s out after he has the car shipped to him, it can get expensive.

I need some profit to continue my next project, but the highest profit is not my priority. My priority is to see that my car is cared for and that it will be used as a tool to continue my p***ion.

Not sure how, exactly, location of the owner factors into your equation. [IMG] If there's people overseas that're stoked enough to buy the car you or I have built...more power to 'em! The "Rod Riguez"(sp?) is a prime example of an American car made BETTER in Japan!! I'm trying to help a Japanese friend find a Model A right now. I know he'll appreciate the car as much or MORE than anybody else in this country. His Model A sedan was smashed into (while it was parked) and Hiro and his girlfriend are completely heartbroken over it. Building a car from the ground up is not always an option in some of the other countries...there just aren't enough garages available to do your own work. Keep all the cars you want...I'm gonna help my friend find a nice Model A, then I'll help him get it shipped to Japan. [IMG]
