History Von Dutch article, Hot Rod '77

I picked up a box of old Hot Rod mags from a neighborhood clean up. Found this.

I also found some other cool old pics and stuff. If you want more let me know.

Can't say why it "isn't Kool". Unless you mean that it's Dutch talking **** as he always did. I couldn't see why it would surprise anyone who knows the guy's history.

The photo of Dutch in the back of the panel truck playing the flute was taken in 1955 by Eric Rickman for an article in Car Craft, Feb. '56 - but it never appeared until this '77 issue of Hot Rod.

 

Outstanding!! Von Dutch is a personal hero of mine, mainly because I admire his free spirit. However his mechanical genious is beyond comparison. He had so many talents it was unreal, a friend of mine has a handmade pocket knife he built that is terrific. I saw him in Calif. in 1959 with Big Daddy Roth at the drags and it was easy to see he was his own man! A hot rod treasure for sure, thanks for the cool post. ~Sololobo~
