after no luck finding any good used running boards for my 50 f1 i have decided to bite the bullet and buy new. My question is does anyone know of any canadian companies i could deal through for steel? I found a couple that offer fibergl*** but thats not really the way i want to go. thanks mike
I looked at a 52 F1 at a show a while back that had alum running boards. The guy had them fabbed up and they looked great. He said they run him about $200 for the alum and the work. That is where I am leaning now for my 51 F1.
I agree. They make perfect ones, not cheap but worth the money. I put some on my truck and they were great. http://www.rockvalleyantiqueautoparts.com/catalog/running_board_spring_poly.pdf
contact Tiny on here ...he may still have a nice pair. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=563
No they are gone, but where the best set I ever saw. Ya they are hard to come by, almost like they have been on trucks for 50 years. I just traded them for a 18' 1961 Fireball camping trailer in really nice condition.
thanks I was hoping to find something on my side of the border but have been eye balling the denis carpenter set. expensive yes, but i have been putting a ton of work into this truck and i just think if i have a ****py set of boards on it i will never be happy.
there are many Canadian members on the FTE webtsite, you might want to join over there and check them out for your running boards. Just an idea.
Hello Mike, Try the Old Car Center in Langly, B.C. They have a web site with an on line catolgue. Regards, Mark
Not sure about in Canada but all the major ford repo places have them about $500 for steel. fibergl*** go for around 300. this place wants a grand http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fa/full.aspx?Page=19 but i know at carlise they were going for $500 i thought about buying but i have to cut 2 inches out to shorten them so I'm making my own.
I too am interested as to what are the best RE-PROduction Running Boards to buy. Does everybody think Rock Valley is the best. What about the ones from Sac Vintage, or MAC's, or LMC?
I had no luck finding good F1 boards either, but I found some nice F2 boards cheap, so I shortened them to fit. Was much cheaper than repros.
My mate just spent a coupla days welding and banging on my originals! The difference from the straight lines juxtaposed with the fat, round fenders just makes the whole truck look that little bit 'crisp'!
