I think it was in 2002 (correct me if I'm wrong) he was the main artist at A-Bombers Old Style Weekend in Sweden. Oh boy, what a show ! To this time that is the hottest music experience I've ever had.-And the man was 76 at that time.
The whole crowd was boiling, the stage almost collapsed and you could see that Billy was 50 years younger that night. According to the scedule,he was supposed to be on stage for about 45 minutes. After nearly 2 hours non-stop both him and the audience just had to rest. We were in rock 'n roll heaven. I will never forget it.
    Thank you Billy Lee Riley.

    RIP:(

Dale Hawkins is a good friend of ours, lives right down the street from me in his recording studio and will be appearing along with many others at the memorial. This will be a great show with many real legends. If my bands not playing I may make it.

"Red Hot" is one of my all time favorite songs but I never knew who sung it until the Sun Records reunion several years ago. It was very obvious Billy Lee had a long standing anger towards Sam Phillips for not promoting him as much as Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, etc. I agree with him. He is no doubt as talented as the others. If makes you wonder "what if".

    RIP Billy Lee

  10. Sonny Burgess! There's another guy you shouldn't miss.
Carl Mann? JM Van Eaton? Wow! There will be a lot of talent on that stage.

Love this super guys music, he was a cool cat with modesty and great spirit. Thanks for posting a couple of his cuts for all of us to hear. The seminal raw sound of that original Sun recording is an example of early rockabilly sound. Red Hot is an all time fave of mine, fills the dance floor most every time!! Thanks Billy Lee Riley, we won't forget!! ~Sololobo~

Very sad to hear this....Rip Billy Lee Riley

"She's my baby" by BLR is, imo, one of the best rockabilly tracks out there. Wish I had the opportunity to see him live.

http://www.myspace.com/billyleeriley has some great songs of his to listen to

We're unfortunately slowly but surely loosing our Rockabilly/R'n'R Pioneers as we are our Hot Rod/Custom Pioneers. All the more reason to catch guys like Chuck Berry at VLV while we still can!
    RIP Billy Lee Riley.

  15. JR Rogers is a local music store owner. Also a state lesigature rep. He is a old car guy to the bone. We where in the same HS graduation cl***. Jr was always trying to promote music and is a very good friend of Sonny Burgess and Billy. Hereally respected and looked up to those legends.
