There was very recently a very long thread with at least a 100 posts on this subject, or close, where to mount and what you used.

I'm using ex-military convoy lights. They're about 1 inch diameter. They consist of a rubber body which pushes into a hole in the sheet metal,a gl*** lens which in turn pushes into the rubber housing, then a metal hood is fitted over the ***embly and secured with 2 screws. The hood covers half the lens.Look pretty good on a traditional car.Shouldn't be too hard to find.I'll get pics tomorrow.

  11. I found 16 threads using "license plate lights" in the search. Gotta type it in with the quotes. I would link the threads here but it will no work because of cookies.

I use one from a AC Cobra :) $39.95 plus the freight. They have two light bulbs inside and are real bright. They also came originally on some MGs and other British cars. They are sort of the " 39 Ford tail lights " of Britain ... as far as being used and real popular.

They repro them ... go here http://www.cobranda.com/luliplli.html

Lobeck has a nice small license plate light. Had one on my coupe for several years. I think it cost around $30. Way smaller than the Hollywood. Sorry no picture.

I bought one a couple of years ago from a guy who sells VW parts in Milwaukee. I think he might be a HAMBer. Calls himself the "Bug Baron" I think. It was a repro knock-off of the old VW bus lights. Light, tag bracket, etc for under 20 bucks. All chrome, too................
