Hi All Trying to come up with a tag lite for the back of my roadster which is difficult. Any ideas ir pictures would be really appreciated. Thanks
There was very recently a very long thread with at least a 100 posts on this subject, or close, where to mount and what you used.
I had some LED bolts that I got off of Ebay. They were pretty cool and really easy to install. The guy has black and chrome available, or he did a couple months ago. Here they are: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Blac...5fAccessoriesQQsalenotsupported#ht_2903wt_659
I'm using ex-military convoy lights. They're about 1 inch diameter. They consist of a rubber body which pushes into a hole in the sheet metal,a gl*** lens which in turn pushes into the rubber housing, then a metal hood is fitted over the ***embly and secured with 2 screws. The hood covers half the lens.Look pretty good on a traditional car.Shouldn't be too hard to find.I'll get pics tomorrow.
I found 16 threads using "license plate lights" in the search. Gotta type it in with the quotes. I would link the threads here but it will no work because of cookies.
I use one from a AC Cobra $39.95 plus the freight. They have two light bulbs inside and are real bright. They also came originally on some MGs and other British cars. They are sort of the " 39 Ford tail lights " of Britain ... as far as being used and real popular. They repro them ... go here http://www.cobranda.com/luliplli.html
Check out KOOL Rides @ www.koolrides.biz or www.koolrides.com. They have what you need I think. Good people to deal with. Later, ****
Lobeck has a nice small license plate light. Had one on my coupe for several years. I think it cost around $30. Way smaller than the Hollywood. Sorry no picture.
I bought one a couple of years ago from a guy who sells VW parts in Milwaukee. I think he might be a HAMBer. Calls himself the "Bug Baron" I think. It was a repro knock-off of the old VW bus lights. Light, tag bracket, etc for under 20 bucks. All chrome, too................
Pic of convoy lamp as promised.I have a better pic of the ***embled lamp but can't up load it for some reason. If you PM me your e-mail I'll try sending it to you.
SOCAL has a nice ss tube lic light, I used one on my roadster. Lobeck also has a neat little lic lite too.
"I honestly think those bolts are...for lack of a better term...gay." Gee--I've got them and I like them. Form and function. I march to my own beat, you should try it sometime.
lightning bolts look just like bolts.not something stole off a honda 90 stepthru or a cigar tube........most people wouldnt even know they were there if ya didnt tell or show them ......JMO
