Hello, been reading posts here for a little while now and thought i'd introduce myself. I recently moved to Hanover, PA and brought my current project with me from NC. It is a 1949 Chevy pickup. I grew up around hot rods, my father introduced me to them many years ago. He painted cars on the side and started with a 40 pontiac coupe, then a 39 pontiac 4 door, my first was a 36 chrysler coupe (not airstream). My current project is close to roadworthy, hopefully will have it registered and licensed by the end of the season...gotta figure out all the inspection regulations for PA, seems to be a bit stricter than NC. Look forward to sharing info and possibly meeting some local HAMBers at the shows. Barnes
Welcome from one of the locals. I'm in Abbottstown just north of you. If you need any help with registering your truck I may be able to help. The Tropical Treat is having a run maybe next weekend... I might make it. Clark
The Treat is a 50's car hop drive in....still in use! It's just north of town heading out Carlisle St. Clark
Welcome!! In regard to your pick-up, you better watch Clark and those pesky So-What guys.....they think they know a thing of two about those 49 Chevy trucks! -Bigchief.
Good to know, i'll be sure to remain humble as this is my first pickup. Although i bought 4 of these to build one. Clark...i've seen The Treat, is it every weekend? I'm gonna be outta town this weekend. Barnes
Welcome from nearby Maryland. You're gonna enjoy this area. Lots of good stuff going on around here. The Jalopy Showdown in the Spring, Showdown Drags,Mobtown Greaseball and Jalopyrama in the Fall with various events during the Summer. And you're just a short drive away from Hershey and Carlisle. .....Don.
Thanks Don, i've made it to Carlisle, Hershey and York shows so far. There are alot more "enthusiasts" here, which was a welcome surprise. NICE 40 coupe by the way.
Welcome from SC, however I am a Hanover, PA gal and we were just up there this past weekend. We ate at a little Italian restaurant in McSherrystown and our waitress told us that she just moved up from NC,,,not your wife, girlfriend or daughter by any chance?
Hi Vicki, No that wasnt her....she teaches in westminster. carolina accents in PA are hard to come by. How's the weather treating you down there? I get back south often and i'm always shocked that i never noticed when i lived there how friggin hot and humid it is in the summer. stay cool! Barnes
Thanks rc.grimes, my sis lives down in westminster..they have a horse farm on bachmans valley rd. I work down in owings mills and drive through there often
It is horrible down here right now, very hot and very humid - we are anxiously waiting for cooler weather. You will definitely have to make it to the Jalopy Showdown next May, one of our favorite shows and living in Hanover, if you are not interested in camping at the show, it is just short drive back and forth.
Good Advice from DeVille Gal.......Jalopy Showdown is one you don't want to miss. Especially since it's practically in your back yard!!....Don.
Sounds good, will be sure to make the next one. Should definitely have the truck on the road by then.
Hey HomemadeHartop57, wish i had your link before paint....i really wanted to do some louvers on my hood. Nice work!
Was out of pocket for the first two weeks of August. Have the shows at the Tropical Treat already happened?
