Hello, been reading posts here for a little while now and thought i'd introduce myself. I recently moved to Hanover, PA and brought my current project with me from NC. It is a 1949 Chevy pickup. I grew up around hot rods, my father introduced me to them many years ago. He painted cars on the side and started with a 40 pontiac coupe, then a 39 pontiac 4 door, my first was a 36 chrysler coupe (not airstream). My current project is close to roadworthy, hopefully will have it registered and licensed by the end of the season...gotta figure out all the inspection regulations for PA, seems to be a bit stricter than NC. Look forward to sharing info and possibly meeting some local HAMBers at the shows.

Welcome from one of the locals. I'm in Abbottstown just north of you.

If you need any help with registering your truck I may be able to help. The Tropical Treat is having a run maybe next weekend... I might make it.

Welcome!! In regard to your pick-up, you better watch Clark and those pesky So-What guys.....they think they know a thing of two about those 49 Chevy trucks! ;)

Welcome from nearby Maryland. You're gonna enjoy this area. Lots of good stuff going on around here. The Jalopy Showdown in the Spring, Showdown Drags,Mobtown Greaseball and Jalopyrama in the Fall with various events during the Summer. And you're just a short drive away from Hershey and Carlisle. .....Don.

Thanks Don, i've made it to Carlisle, Hershey and York shows so far. There are alot more "enthusiasts" here, which was a welcome surprise.

NICE 40 coupe by the way.

Welcome from SC, however I am a Hanover, PA gal and we were just up there this past weekend.

We ate at a little Italian restaurant in McSherrystown and our waitress told us that she just moved up from NC,,,not your wife, girlfriend or daughter by any chance?

I'm pretty sure the Treat only has shows twice a year...and they are 2 weeks apart.

Hi Vicki, No that wasnt her....she teaches in westminster. carolina accents in PA are hard to come by. How's the weather treating you down there? I get back south often and i'm always shocked that i never noticed when i lived there how friggin hot and humid it is in the summer.

    stay cool!

It is horrible down here right now, very hot and very humid - we are anxiously waiting for cooler weather.

You will definitely have to make it to the Jalopy Showdown next May, one of our favorite shows and living in Hanover, if you are not interested in camping at the show, it is just short drive back and forth.

Was out of pocket for the first two weeks of August. Have the shows at the Tropical Treat already happened?
