Count me in as well, looking for history on our 1947 photographed #265b, 29 rdstr on 32 rails with 35 wires. Owner of the car at the time was Clem Waske and he ran with the So Cal Rdstr Club. Photo was taken May 25th 1947 at the largest dry lakes meet ever.

Just called RJ. Info should be posted later today. Price is $125 or something close to that.

Here's something else Ken's work on identifying the cars and people in the book taught me. How very many clubs were involved in these early days, particularly at the dry lakes. The index includes references to: Albata, Bungholers, Centuries, Clutchers, Dolphins, Flyers, Gaters, Gear Grinders, Glendale Coupe and Roadster, Gophers, Hornets, Lancers, Low Flyers, Mobiliers, Night Flyers, Quarter Milers, Road Runners and Screwdrivers. Makes me wonder how many there were in ,say, 1948?

Hmmmm.......I may be among the first few to see a copy--next week after I get back from B`Ville....Can`t believe I could actually be in on the ground floor on this.....

  16. Ditto. I'm waiting...

  17. Wow, I've got a little sticker shock at the price. I was pleasantly surprised at the $40 Throttle mag. price, I honestly thought it would have been $60-75. But the price set me back a little. I'll probably still order, but I'll bet it will take a little longer than originally thought to sell out at that price.
I'm curious though, how many pages? I didn't see that on the TRJ site.

Someone has some bad information. Check the Rodders Journal website. The book is $125 plus postage.

I can only hope that they will eventually do a re-print once this "Super Deluxe" version sells out.

Like the quotes above say there would be a market for a "no frills" version. I hope someone from TRJ would consider this.

I appreciate all the extra stuff they did with the book, but I'd really just like to read the book. If it's like some of my books it will get plenty of wear, and I'd be afraid to ruin the really nice version!

In the meantime I hope I get my copy of the Throttle book soon...

Time to clear up all the speculation about the book's price. I just spoke to a friend at Rodders Journal who confirmed the price is $124.99 plus $9 postage. In order to get the book done in time for the tribute to Strother MacMinn taking place at Pebble Beach next weekend, it was necessary to do the printing and binding locally and not offshore, an expensive way to go but one that made it possible to closely control the quality. It is on the RJ website now and a mailing to all subscribers goes out next week. For those interested I'd suggest going to the website now.

I don't really want to quibble, but we're all talking about the same base price. With CA tax and shipping, my total invoice was $145.51.

It IS an expensive book; facts of life. I bought one of your earlier books about miniature gas engined race cars and it was very nice, so I have no complaint.
