Anybody know where the frame numbers are on a '54 Special? I bought this car from the original owner's family, but the VIN tag is missing, and the title is long gone. I've read in other posts that the tri-5 Chevys are stamped on the top of the frame under the driver's seat, but I can't seem to find them on this car. I looked on the rear sections of the frame, from the rear axle kick-up back, but nothing. Any ideas??
Hmmmm ... this probably won't help at all. I did a Yahoo search on "1954 Buick frame number", and the first one on the list was your question to the AACA. The second one on the list was sorta tantalizing, as follows: ... Buick decided to stamp the serial number on the frame, on ' ... 1954 is a tough year on frame numbers, because Buick changed their system in April 1954. ... forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/<wbr>topics/<wbr>415533/1954_Buick_question However, when I click that link, it just takes me to the AACA forums. I'm kind of a search dummy, but if you can track down that post it may shed some light on your question. Good luck!
Yeah, that was me. I thought I could find someone who did a frame-off and had seen it. There were a couple of guys that said they found the stamping on theirs, one was on the right rear frame horn, and the other was on the left. Oh well. I guess I hafta look some more. Thanks a lot. -phifty
