Denise,I couldn't even to begin to guess where or when. But wherever you hit the 100k mark, you have to pull over and take a picture of the location and odometer and post it.Please be safe in reaching that mark!

Also, I know its only about a half day of driving from joplin to stl but your more than welcome to stay here on your way home. We have an extra room all made up. Its pretty comfortable, ask Bob K aka "The Stairmaster" about it.

Frenchtown MT probably not far enough but someone has to get MT in the game.

I'm guessing Indy, unless someone already has. It's hard to guess though, since Denise has never really bought into the "shortest distance between two points" mentality.

    Have a great trip!

It will happen somewhere between Bonneville and Spokane, so it depends on the route. If you go North, it will be Missoula MT, if you take the southern route, It'll be around Boise..

So I'm gonna go with Missoula MT as the most likely spot.

Udnudden, Minnebraska. Just as you pull off the interstate. But before you pull into the Fearless Farris truckstop to refuel. On a Tuesday evening, about 8:15. The radio reception will be very poor and all you'll be able to pick up is AM talk radio shows. And don't forget to check that wiper blade that's been chattering on you.:D

Oatmeal chocolate chip, if I had my druthers.

100,000!?! - man that's worn out - maybe if you hurry you can still trade him in under the cash for clunkers deal.

I've never had the cookies but I want some.
    So my guess- Dunkirk, MT

  19. I'm guessing in Grand Lake, Colorado on your return from the salt flats. You ARE going over Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, aren't you? (You said you would on the 'ultimate road trip' thread one time.)

I'll send YOU a big box of cookies if you drive that road and don't think it is one of the greatest roads you've ever driven!

    ;o)

I'll say right in Joplin MO. Say Hi to the gang under the shade at the north end of the pit. Hope to see you in Joploin.

  22. It's gonna be Gunnison Baby, I can feel it in my bones.

Even if I'm out in the shop with the Olds jacked up like in Ferris Bueller adding the needed miles while you sleep !

I predict that you'll have to curtail some part of your trip and skip some planned stops taking a shortcut to make up for lost time. By doing so you'll not have reached 100,000 by the time you get home.
Now comes the good part. Realizing you still have to put some miles on you bake some cookies and decide to come north to visit me and let Big Olds stay overnight at the sight of one of his first work thrashes (my shop). As you proceed north Big Olds will reach the magic 100,000 number between Flint and Bay City and by time you get here the reading will be around 100,030.
Now, if that happens I'll buy you a tank of gas after you spend the night with Sharon and I and have breakfast the next morning on your way home.

Flagg Ranch, 2 miles south of the southern park entrance. If you have the time, go into the park (north) a few more mile, pull off the road at Crawdad Crick, (lots of parking), and walk down the creek and go for a swim-the water is warmed by thermals, and you can swim behind the waterfall! I highly recommend it. And don't miss the big room at Jackson Lake Lodge. See how the Rockefellers lived.
