Maybe this is old news, but I thought it was pretty cool.

I told my "bulldozer" mechanic friend that I was looking for an ignition switch for the dragster and here's what he had stashed: (see pic - ya gotta love them bulldozer guys!!!!! )

Come to find out they are STILL available today. Cole Hersee # 90047

They also have a matching kill switch (plus ten ba-jillion others)

Thought someone might find it useful.

Have you got one of those stickers, that says "Turn the gas on Dummy !" ?

I put one on the dash of a Formula car I was working on many years ago.
Made sense with a seperately switched electric fuel pump, especially since
the driver didn't always remember to flip the switch.

The Tea and Crumpet crowd didn't know what to think.

Nope!! No switch for gas. (Edit: No switch - just the fuel valve lever!!! - That will be on the CHECKLIST for Pre Fire . )Only switches are the KILL switch and the Starter switch. Still need to add a cable to disconnect the battery. I looked at what they get for the "cable ready" battery disconnect switches. %$^^&& lost their minds!!!! I'll rig up my cheapy to work with a morse cable.

I know this is a super old thread, but I've been thinking about cool switches for the dash lately. Anyone care to participate with adding some more cool switches? Push-****on, toggle, off-the-wall, stuff, whatever? Post 'em up!

Figured this was better than starting a new thread.

  10. I should post some pictures - a 67-69 Toronado has some interesting switches. The fan is a rolling switch instead of the usual lever, the wipers are a rocker switch, there's another matching rocker with it. I forget if the headlight pulls out or turns (like late 50s mopar). They look easy to adapt to other dashes, though.

Their catalog is online. I like the look and feel of toggle switches covered by their black or gray rubber "switch boots" or "caps."

Here's one I did for the KILL switch - nothing fancy, but I like it.

I did another one for the battery hold-down/disconnect switch. My buddy kept bustin' my agits about the black magic marker so I finally did it more permanent.

I just got this cool Stainless Momentary switch from McMaster-Carr, it's going to be a hidden switch though. This was the smallest size they sell. They have 0.76", 0.88" and 1" overall diameters.

This is an old thread, but I think it was going in a good direction... Instead of starting a new one, I'll bump it up!

Anyone have simple solutions and/or sources for light switches, key switches, etc.?

I dunno if it's what people are after, but I've seen the momentary push ****on switch w/ an LED ring that lights up being used as an engine start switch. Run it through a relay and voila! It looks like the round, brushed switch pictured above, and is used on a computer (I think for an on/off deal).
They are on evilbay all the time- cheap.

That's funny. A local guy just traded his dragster to a kid. The kid hauled it home and called up screaming that it wouldn't start no matter what he tried. The guy asked if he turned on the fuel pump and the kid hang up! Scary thinking the kid will now be behind the wheel of an 8 sec. car~!
