First off i dont have a nailhead so i cant keep it. I was trying to figure out if the reverse oil pan for the early novas would fit on a late model 350 truck engine. I think its from an 89 box truck with a th400. The steering linkages hit the oil pan and ive cut and rewelded it a number of times but it always ends up with the stops hitting it or the pickup tube and pump not fitting. Does anybody know if the reverse pan has the same bolt pattern. the heads are a st a different angle and there are some other minor differences compared with the earlier sbc so i dont wann buy one if its not going to fit.
I'm not sure if the Chevy II pan will fit your block. The Chevy II pan uses a short oil pump and oil pump drive shaft. Smokey
I think your '89 350 may be new enough to have a one piece rear main seal and this changes the rear of the block where the oil pan seals. The early Nova pans were never used on this late of a block style. There may also be issues with the dipstick location, or a bump in the side of the pan rail to accomadate the dipstick tube. At least consider the possibility of these changes before you get in too deep. Maybe there were some later model Corvette pans that had a better sump layout?
yeah the one peice seal is a problem this project is a year and ahalf old i had forgotten why that would not work. I dont know alot about late model vettes but i think that aluminum batwing oil pan wont fit. I could go dry sump.
