Thanks Ryan, the group at Eagle Field is very supportive which will make this event rock! Come on WEST COAST, with the Eagle Field crew behind us and allowing use of the airstrip all we need is to band together and raise the funds for insurance. Rocky

I talked to the insurance co. today and although he didn't have an actual cost for the premium he believes it will be around $2500. That is a lot more reasonable than the "around $4000" that K&K told me a couple of months ago. After checking with eight company's he has four crunching the numbers and expects to have a number by next week. Dirk at DiBuduo & DeFendis has been very help full and I don't think I could do it without him.
I plan on meeting with my friends at Eagle Field and making some final decisions on the schedule of events in October by August 10th. With this in mind I feel it's "crunch time" on raffle ticket sales to close the cost gap on the insurance. Right now we have collected and have in my possession $1700, minus the $500 we will give to the raffle winner. This does not include the tickets that volunteers are trying to sell for me so I'm sure we can pull this off. To all those who have purchased their tickets, THANK YOU. If you are planning to buy a ticket, NOW is the time. If you are unable to buy a ticket at this time, I UNDERSTAND and hope to see you on October 10th.
A quick recap of event ideas we are thinking of, the date is all that has been decided and all is open for discussion. October 10th is the date and Eagle Field is the place, 10 Miles south of Dos Palos off of Russell. The goal is to have the Car Show include a Drag Race for '65 and earlier Hot Rods, Customs, Stockers and race cars of all types. I hope to have some old Hard Tops, Midgets, Dry Lakes/Salt cars and etc. on display The car show may be an indoor(hanger)/outdoor event, the Drag Race will be 1/8mile heads-up grudge style event with some basic cl***es to divide up the cars. I'm thinking event winners will be peoples choice with the exception of the HAMB Dragsters. I have been thinking of including Mini Bike Drags for Licensed drivers only. Only pull start regular mini bikes allowed with Briggs & Stratton style engines (Honda, Te***seh, OK) no motorcycle style bikes, this is only a thought.
The group of us @ Eagle Field will have affordable refreshments available, and we have talked about offering a reasonable Saturday breakfast and maybe a Saturday night get together. With an Eagle Field meeting to make these decisions coming soon your input is needed and welcomed. I've added to my link to the HAMB Forum a site that an Eagle Field volunteer is working on, check it out. That's all for now, Lets Make this Happen! Thank you Rocky Phillips

Payments for tickets can be made with PayPal to lbrtoys@yahoo.com or mail your check (payable to Eagle Field Museum) to Eagle Field Hot Rod Gathering 1879 E. Adams Ave. Fresno CA 93725. Do it soon and we could have our own HAMB Friendly Drags in central California! Rocky

The ultimate schedule of the Hot Rod Gathering is a gathering of 1965 and earlier Hot Rods, Customs, Stockers and Race Cars of all types on display which get in FREE with paid $10 admission or raffle ticket. Cars will be on display inside (1st come 1st serve) and outside the hanger. Once insurance is obtained the Drag Races will include Mini Bikes (contact me on the rules) on the airstrip and will be heads up start run all day (12 to 5pm). Car cl***es will be STOCK, SUPER STOCK, MODIFIED, HOT ROD, DRAGSTER, AND HAMB DRAGSTER. A racers tech card will be an additional $25, mini bikes $15 with winners being "People Choice" with the exception of the HAMB Dragster category. Only drag race winners are scheduled at this time to recieve trophies (no cash prizes) and hopefully dash plaques for all participants.
Eagle Field will be serving a sausage, egg, hash brown, fruit, coffee and orange juice sit down breakfast in the morning for only $10 inside the Air Fields Hanger. Affordable refreshments will be availible throughout the day. This event will be like the "Old days" with an old air field, no clocks, fancy pits or skyboxes, just man and machine! So if you would like to join the fun buy a $10 raffle ticket with PayPal (lbrtoys@yahoo.com) or shoot me a check to Eagle Field Hot rod Gathering 1879 E Adams Ave. Fresno CA 93725, include your phone number and make checks payable to Eagle Field museum. All proceeds benefit the Eagle Field restoration project. Rocky<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

WE ARE A GO!!!!! I got the insurance quote today and we have it covered! The raffle tickets are still on sale and will get you in the gate. The advantage to buying a raffle ticket is it puts you in the $500 drawing, tickets bought at the gate do not. Enough of that here is what the event looks like...............
The Eagle Field HOT ROD Gathering is open to 1965 and earlier Hot Rods, Customs, Stockers and Race Cars (Old Midgets, Hardtops, LSR Cars ETC. are welcome in the show and shine area) of all types. The Drag Races will feature Stock, Modified, Hot Rod (Coupes and Roadsters), Dragster, HAMB Dragster and include Mini Bike categories . I'm considering a G***er cl*** if we have enough. The races will be 1/8 Mile, Flag or Arm Drop starts with no clocks. Mini Bikes will race a shorter course yet to be determined. The air field will not have any traction aids applied and the lanes will each be 20' wide. Tech will be basic and require helmets etc., contact me if you have any question. The pits and spectator areas are DIRT, however the Eagle Field crew does a FANTASTIC job discing, watering and rolling making it hard and smooth. This race will be like the beginning of Drag Racing so be prepared and bring CHAIRS AND YOUR EASY UP.
The Show and Shine area offers both indoor (first come first serve) and outdoor parking @ the fields hanger. A special outdoor area will be provided near the show area for those wishing to do both activities. Indoor cars will be allowed to leave the area but not return to thier spot, we would like those inside to stay inside until the wish to leave.
The cost of admission is $10, show and shine cars are allowed in the show area for FREE no additional fees. Their are no awrds for the show and shine but I am working on getting some participant dash plaques. Those wishing to race will pay an additional fee for thier tech card. Let me know what you think is fair. There will be trophies for cl*** winners, with the winners determined by pier or crowd favorite with the exception of HAMB Dragster which will run an elimination ladder with all cars returning each round.
The schedule looks like this, Gate opens at 8am, Eagle Field will offer a sit down breakfast for $10 'til 10 or 11am. Races will start @ 12 noon and conclude at 5pm. If there is something you would like to add speak up, I'm open to suggestions. I want to thank everyone for their support and helping make this possible! Rocky
PS Fliers will be availible soon!

    WooHoo!!! And Drags too!!

I wish we had our HAMBster at least started. Maybe I could throw all the pieces in the back of the truck and display it as a "HAMBster Starter Kit".

How about a straight axle on the Chevy? I've got this sweet gold 'flake helmet you can borrow and we can drag it out. Battle of the nineteen second monsters. ;) :D

I haven't met 'FordGirl, but she is dead-on Eagle Field is the place for this event! We will have to get her to make a p*** in the Ranchero.
About the Mini Bikes, I'm thinking 4 cl***es Stock w/clutch, stock w/convertor, Modified w/clutch and Modified w/convertor. All mini bikes are required to be factory recoil rope started. Briggs, Te***seh, Honda industrial and the like only. We will be racing 330', no "push off" with your legs allowed, must have helmet, long pants, heavy long sleeve jacket, shoes with toes covered and gloves. If enough under 5hp engined mini's show up they will have a cl*** of their own. Any suggestions? Rocky

Hey Rocky, do we need to fill out a form if we're just camping and doing b-fast?

Also, is camping available Fri. and Sat. nights?

Katuna there is a short answer to your question but :D here's the long version. If you pre-register there is the benefit of being entered in the $500 raffle and recieving a Dash Plaque. Those who purchase tickets at the gate will pay the same price, however they will run the risk of not recieving a Dash Plaque or be entered in the drawing automatically. Since you already have your tickets (I'll remember to get you guys Dash Plaques and Thanx for your early support) a quick e-mail (lbrtoys@yahoo.com) with your plans and number of people would help. The Pre-registration or email will help us prepare for the number of people attending. "O" and YES FREE CAMPING is available Friday and Saturday night! Rocky

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>After talking to a fellow Eagle Field volunteer today I wanted to let everyone know how flexible we are going to be on the year of cars allowed. As has been stated from the beginning the years allowed are 65 and earlier, however we will allow models from '66 were the body didn't significantly change. So if you have a '66 El Camino or Mustang we will let them participate, cars like the Nova that changed Body styles in '66 will not be allowed. I'm not trying to single anyone out, I have a '72 Comet that Lee and I race but it will sit home. I hope everyone understands, Rocky </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
