Now that is intresting....Kinda looks like the same principal as pushing meat through a grinder.

Are you guys gonna make one?

Actually, it came right up when I did a google image search. :D It's just a desperate attempt at avoiding all responsibility today.

Man I sure could use that to make the hoop for my steering wheel right now. How about making it for me. I'd really be your friend. And I don't think the playdoh unit will work...John

I see some serious advantages for hydraulic tubing, structural not so much.

I'm with ElPolacko on this. After spending many years manufacturing roll cage components I don't understand how it would be repeatable for m*** produced, identical pieces. It would be interesting to see it demonstrated in person.

It is CNC so repeatability is a matter of running the same program again.
I'd love to see a homebrewed version of this, I wonder if the CNCZone boys
    have seen this.......

I understand how this works and how precision this method can be, maybe a bit more than standard pressure die and mandrel system. Certainly faster as there is no need for a positioner or to to reset your shoes for the next bend.

I just question the capacity of this. That looks to be 3/4 or 1" tube in the demo video. To get anything bigger the pressures involve to do the offset die like that have got to skyrocket.

    Still very cool tech.

:cool:You are more than welcome to come over to my place and put on a demonstration I have several projects in various stages that you could really show off its capabilities!

I think I love tools as much as I like cars. It reminds me of a "rage against the machine" song lyric

"**** the G ride, I want the machines that are making them"

If you google it it says they make three models that can handle tube diameters from 3/4" to 2 3/8" doesn't really say anywhere what wall thickness though.

    Cool none the less

That thing looks very expensive. But way cool.

  21. That thing would save me tons of time when I need to make custom headders. Can you imagine the crazy designs you could do with out having to say "how in the F#$%K am I going to weld the inside curve"

It goes on my list of **** to buy when I hit the lotto. Till then cut, turn, weld, grind smooth, repeat.

Thats would have been nice a few years ago when I was hard at work. Retired now and have no need at all but what a cool deal.

    I bet it's untouchable

  28. A very neat machine, however, I question the repeatability when moving from one batch of tubes to the next. A number of years ago I designed and built an automated machine for rolling catalytic converter housings. After set-up, it would work perfectly through whatever batch of steel blanks it was forming. As soon as I got a new batch of blanks, with slightly different tensile strength charactaristics, the machine would begin to roll shells out of spec., untill reset. I worked very closely with the steel supplier who provided the blanks, and found it was virtually impossible to get exactly the same tensile charactaristics from one batch of steel to the next. I imagine tube products have that same issue.---Brian

Some pretty creative thought went into that machine. Wonder what else they (or he) have come up with? (I am still bump bending for those weird shapes.) This process may actually be similar to bumping if broken down?
