Here are some pics of my parts car I just got. It looks like an old custom, as it has nice pin-stripping and push-****on door openers.I found a toggle switch in the front area and a 'red' light in the right engine compartment. Without tracing the wiring, I was wondering if anyone had ideas of what these were for? I ***ume the toggle was to cut the power for anti-theft, but what about the red light?....thanks
The light was probably to shine a red "sheen" over the engine for shows. That red light is a new light....from a trucker's store. Probably says GROTE on it.
I would say that the red light is to light up the motor, not sure what else it could be used for but thats a nice car do think it would be better fixing then for a parts car
your going to part out a survivor of sorts... It's your car and all, but I would personally think twice. And the red light was probably to add a red glow coming form the engine compartment as the car was driving or parked for that added "wild" element.
I agree that is should be saved. As fara as the light and switch goes. i would guess that the toggle switch toggles the 12v that supplies the light. considering that the the car is red and the light is red it may be one of them fancy kustom touches they loved so much back then.
Thanks for the info....the red 'glow' theory sounds about right. I am going to use this body on another frame...so not really tearing it apart. Yes, it was a Craigslist find.....in Garner NC....the guy towed it to my place and the car for $500....which I though was pretty good.
