I've used a few sets of these overseas gears in the last 6 years but the ones I bought were all made in India. They were all fine. I was told that when the US companies went cnc that they sold all their old equipment to someone in India. The sets I used looked exactly like US Gear. There's only two things that ruin a gear set if there is oil in the rear. No.1: improper setup, too tight of backlash or really wrong tooth engagement. No.2: No heat treat on the gears or one part not compatible with the other. All the gears I have used are match sets. I wonder if someone mixed pinions with the wrong ring gear? This doesn't help your situation but it sounds to me like you're about to find a new supplier. I'm sure you have checked but is the mounting surface of the rear housing flat and the axles parrallel to the mounting flange?
For my own use the offshore gearsets are fine. For someone that expects a rearend as quiet as Grandma's Lincoln, they get Richmond.
Just got the third member returned to me today. Attached to it was this sheet, there was no way in hell this thing left this shop only making 97 dB because it would drown out the stereo in the upholstered and insulated cab! 140 to 150dB would be more like it. Gear scuffed: no? really? then where in the hell did all the debris come from?

Good luck. I had a noisy 3rd member in a Moser 9" about 9 years ago, returned it twice. Got a refund and bought a used member from a 9.50 street/strip car. No noise whatsoever.
You say that now, but when you only get 15k out of it you'll think different. If it's noisy it won't last. There is a problem. There is nothing wrong with wanting a good product for your money, especially when Currie isn't cheap with their prices.
I am considering my options for a new vendor, that's for sure.. Anyone got favorites? I have dealt with Strange, Moser and Randy's. I need someone who can build complete axle assemblies.
ELpolacko, I have had some luck with Motive Gear brand r&p sets. I am not a fan of Richmond for street gears. Are you set on staying with 3.70's? I can get 3.50's in US Gear if needed. What you're describing about the noise would be enough to drive you up the wall on a long trip.
A friend had a complete aftermarket large bearing 9" with Detroit Locker and 4.56 gears built by Dutchman. No noise problems. It's behind a turbo'd 353" SBF and T56 six speed. I'll recommend Dutchman in a heartbeat.
Forgot about Dutchman, I hope their service is better since I last dealt with them 8-10 years ago. I will put them on the consideration list.
here is what I have noticed.... all of the currie rear ends we have recently purchased seem to arrive in "the 9 inch factory" boxes. I know that if You buy a rear end from so-cal, it starts in a 9.i.f. box, gets welded and straightened by currie, and sent on. The only thing I have seen that is a sure fire "tell" that they are still producing thier own center sections is the 9+ on the case...but really, if they bartered away that part of the biz, for all we know, they are being built by Hopsing in downtown beijing. personally, I have always been a strange guy. both in form, and in choice of axles. take the plunge. buy a jig, read a book, and get to welding, Ya lightweight! (gonna get poked in the ribs for that one at the drags for sure.) all in all, I have decided that we are the final line in quality control. we gotta make it right. which totally blows, but hell, it keeps the lights on.
Really? I never noticed We built a jig recently for housings. Narrowed a few and will set up our first complete unit. Even making a swage to flare the 3" 0.188" tube to 3.2 to fit the stock housings better. Probably should have just bought the components and done it, but time was the priority and it bit me in the ass.
Its sadd when a vender like curry dont and wont make right on the sales. I have a friend doing a cuda and looking at a 9 inch from curry I have to copy this and give to him so he dont get stroked for the parts. This is why I stay with stock ford gears, and 3rd members. what piss,s me off more is the guy is trying to do right by his client and being jerked. no sales for curry!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like two different people filled out that inspection sheet. One did the check marks and the other did the comments
