Im wanting to put a weber down draft carb and tube headers on my stock 4 banger model a coupe. Im wanting to add some horse power but leave it as original as possible. I would appreciate any advice or other helpful tips so I can get more power and speed out on the road.

Your old Model A has more beans than you think. The #1 thing you can do to keep up with traffic is swap out your transmission for a T-5 five speed. Not an easy or inexpensive modification. However, your stock motor is RPM limited and making it stronger will improve acceleration a bit but will not do much for cruising at modern highway speeds. A Weber carb, by it self, will not do much in terms of pepping the beast up. Think headers, a high compression head, and possibly a two carb intake with Holly 94s or Stromberg 97s.
The absolute best way to spend your money is on a high compression head. You will not regret it. Before, all the in town traffic drove around me. After installing the hi compression head, I keep up with regular traffic in town. Then I put in a 85-87 F150 fully synchronized 3 speed with overdrive and that makes the car a real pleasure to drive in town and on cross country drives. Next I used 1971 to 76 chevy BIG wagon (only) drum brakes in 1940 Ford brake drums.
I guess there is an adapter that someone makes to get the 3 speed to bolt up or will it bolt up without one?
