1st I'll say it's not my board but I do pay attention to what's 'allowed' and what's not. It seems to be getting way off track what most members consider truely O/T. The Bugatti in the lake? Older Euro racers? Even the whole model year gig is wacked. The main board is NOT pre-64. Only the cl***ifieds.

Based on some posts it's seems there's a pack of FNGs and even some seasoned members that don't get it. For what things seem like, especially lately, one could get accused of being the dreaded O/T poster by showing off the Top Fueler that won Indy in 69. Not so. Read completely, pay attention, and most important, try and 'feel' the vibe that this board is about. It's not all flatheads and Model As, Deuce hiboys and lead sleds. We all love em but there's so much more to it than that. Search Pro Stock and see what happens. You'll find things that are welcomed and the membership appreciates. Ryan's done wonders here and I applaud this place. I'd hate to see it get diluted with an excess of same-same all the time. Read TJJ lately? It would help.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

there already is a devoted off topic section. it's called find another message board that caters to the ******** off topic posts. i'm not singleing anybody out, for instance, but if you want to talk about tattoos, find a tattoo message board.

forums I have been on over time change, member's get pissed, people die, members get banned, it is always changing, we tend to make friends on the boards, we get used to how things are, when they change we get bent, our friend gets booted we get pissed, the feel or vibe will always be changing, maybe we want to post to our same friends off topic, this is why I recomend an OT section on the hamb, also this is the biggest group I have ever seen on a forum, there is a lot of stuff that I don't care abought on here, I'm not going to complain, I'm a newb, I know my place here, if I get off topic, (happens all the time) Ryan will let me know

Some may think tats are traditional, therefore not O/T.
To Me,if its not about hot rods then its O/T but that's the evolution, like it or not.

I agree to a certain point. But I understand Hambers wanting to talk tattoos with other hambers. Thats why I made the tattoo group thing. Hopefully it will keep it off the main board.

Wat the **** do I know anyway right? I was fat in high school.

i only used tattoos as an example. i could have used vw's. we don't need a special forum for any off topic stuff. find a board that caters to that other stuff if you like discussing it. ask ryan why he formed the hamb. that's why he started the jockey and garage journals. they are places to go to discuss those things that are dear to him and us.
    hotrods and customs.

Well, I don't have much to contribute when it comes to building these old cars. I enjoy reading what you guys are doing and thought I'd join in just to give cudos and critque about how your projects are going.

We have a '71 Vette and our oldest car is a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. For OT stuff, I go to the CF.

I hope that doesn't make me a blacksheep of the group.... LOL! This is a great forum to see what kind of cars are being resurected.

Ryan, keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, I was going to add something of value. A rarity for me these days...

The other boards I go to that have OT sections just seem to collect posts from people with nothing really to say. Seems most must be about 14, by calendar or education, and are just looking to stir things up.

The groups are a great idea. Wish I had time to check them out......

It'd be kinda cool to use the 'Rate this Thread' tool to help weed out the **** posts. Kinda like the Craigslist "flagging" idea.

Say maybe if a thread has a certain number or percentage of 'terrible' ratings, it automatically gets locked or deleted? Let the board self regulate a little bit.

I don't think most people would go out of their way to report a post where someone feels the need to share that their neighbor's kid's family pet died, but O/T **** like that would hopefully get enough 'terrible' ratings that it could just quietly drop off the face of the Earth. If it was automatically flagged down, Ryan wouldn't have to be the bad guy for deleting it either.

Just throwing an idea out there.

As a Ghost moderator, (ha,ha) I can understand why you don't have time. This thing can keep you hopping, all the more reason for no O/T section...

My simple answer to all this is... if it isn't about Traditional Hot Rods or Custom Cars prior to 1964 - don't even post.

Why poeple have to bring up O/T stuff baffles me.

Start a seperate away from this web site and call it O/T OFF Topic Stuff - anything and nothing to do with everything and nothing. Charge a quarter and make a million.

I wish people would just post about Traditonal Hot Rods and Custom cars prior to 1964 and also read the rules - especially the cl***ifieds.
Guys will post "Is this still for sale ?" and the post right above it says sold........

Like I said post about Traditional Hot Rods and Custom cars prior to 1964 only and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

    Cob
