We have just opened up a new musuem in San Marcos and I was wondering what you would like to see on display or events we could have. We want to make this a fun and unique as possible and would love to hear from everybody.

late 50's to 60's show cars, and 70's show cars and vans...I think that would be a fun museum...

I agree it is really nice for the cars to be in runnin order.
Dale who owns Wheels thru Time mostly Vintage Motorcycles - every motorcycle runs and some Dale even continues to race.

Items that match the era of the auto to create a backdrop of the time makes for a lot of additional / interesting eye candy and education for all.

Good Luck with this adventure, sounds like a lot of fun to me :) There are a lot of folks that have museum quality rides that will store their car there to help add to your collection, the one museum in Daytona did that as I am certain so do all the others.

When I read the ***le this was the first thing that I thought off.
Museums are usually stuffy places full off static items with signs next to them explaining their part in history. Not much wrong with that last bit, but I would personally try and bring the place into the modern days a bit more with screens with continuous video-footage and audio available about the item shown.
I think mainly kids would really be more interested and pick up and remember the historic info shown more easily.

All the famous show cars and famous race, land speed and drag cars when they aren't being driven. Cuz no car should live in a museum, just sleep there.

Here are a few pictures of what we have on display. Over 98% of all of our cars are running and we regularly exercise the ones not on display.

Good luck, just covering the rent will be a huge effort. The only car museums worth seeing are the collections that were built my men with a p***ion for the hobby, WELL FUNDED guys, with corporations they founded covering the losses. Will a family of four get into your collection for under $50.00? How many people coming through the door per day will keep the lights on? The AACA Museum is a drain on the club and only 1/4 from the Hershey flea market in October, I still haven't seen a need to see it.

i always loved the museum in pomona. things that make it great are the historic hot rods like the isky roadster and wally parks car, barris cars, along with a bunch of others. they also have cool memorabilia such as photos timing tags old trophys, old car club plaques and jackets.

I like to see the car as if it were in a scene from the past. Lots of other stuff to bring out the era the car is from.

A 50's or older mechanic's garage would be great, or a same vintage custom shop working on a wild custom. (A scene from pre-WWI auto racing would be really cool.)

A scene of a crew working on a dragster of the 50's-60's at the track would be sweet.

Everything needs lots of info to watch on TV's and read about.

Allow people to sit in select cars and get some pics of the experience. Just figure the upholstry will need to be replaced after so many people tearing it up with keys and junk hanging out of their pockets, and getting food residue all over the inside of the car. It is all easily fixable on more common cars, like a '57 Chevy.

Have rides available to go through town in the p***enger seats of a really neat old car, maybe a prewar 4 dr convertible. Have a small limo service bringing people to the museum from their hotel or airport in a 30's Checker Cab or something just as cool.

have guests who lived the hotrod/custom/dragster life etc, have a storytelling session, or record a bunch and let people push ****ons on a TV to listen to them. That way, the stories will never disappear when the storytellers eventually do.

Just a few ideas I had. And I agree, a Tucker helps.

It would be nice to see RARE stuff we don't see at all the car shows we go to.
A Tucker, Vintage Exotics like a Bugatti, Rare vehicles of extreemly low-production run build numbers like a Hemi Cuda convertible, maybe a Baldwin Motion Corvette,
    A ZL-1 Yenko Corvette,..Vintage Salt-flats race cars,...Vintage rare motorcycles
like a Henderson or a Black Knight,...cars from the Stars like famous TV. or Movie personality vehicles with a blown-up copie of the original ***le by it...
    I could go on forever!

These suggestions would require a tremendously LARGE-Budget and very deep pockets to obtain, store, maintain, insure, and or course a high tech security system and climate controlled environment...BIG-MONEY-STUFF!!!
ie. it takes money to draw attention and money to a museum, and a forture to produce a great one worth going too.
