Hello everyone, some people have asked lately how my Daughter Lilly is doing and just wanted to post and let you know she wilol be getting her heart surgery done some time in the beginning of September. She has had a hole in her left ventricle since birth and they were hoping it would close on its own but it's not happening. It needs to be done now oterwise they want to do it around Januaryish and with Milwaukee being the city that has the most cases of H1N1 virus going around for us that isn't an option. It should be a straight forward easy operation and hopefully things won't happen or go wrong. This is my lil' girl after all and it makes dad worry a bit!!!!!

I know some of you will keep her in your thoughts and that is all I'm wanting, this little girl has gone through a lot since birth and continues to amaze us as well as her doctors. She is a strong willed little girl and that makes a difference in how she gets through it all!!!!:)

    Kerry,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I went through a similar situation with my oldest. Whe he was three weeks old he started to choke all the time. Turned out he had a Coartation of the Aorta. That is it had twisted during development. Then we found out he had a Ventricular septal defect, a hole between the two lover ventricles. Plus he also was born with his Aorta and pulmonary artery both in the left ventrical instead of in seperate chambers. The hole in the lower chambers had by some miracle kept him alive! Luckly we had great medical attention and a slew of super doctors. Plus we had faith. You have gotta have faith over everything else. We endured two major surgeries. The first when he was four weeks old in Fort Worth and the second at 1 1/2 years old in which they sent us to the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. All were nerve racking and trying on your mental state and family strength. But, again dude you have gotta have faith. We all thought things were fine. Then at 11 he got real argumentative and just plan *****y. Turns out his pulmanary valve was infected and basically the organ was dying. He endured another open heart surgery and they removed the valve. And by all thing great in God, they did not replace it and left him with out this valve. So he is operating with only three functioning valves. Even though he has all of these issues repaired, he still has a heart that is different from all of us. But he has a 100% clean bill of health as of the last 10+ years.

So why am I telling you all this? For one life lesson.

He is now 23 years old. Works as a material engineer for a construction testing company. Got married 2 years ago and has a gorgeous 18 month old daughter. My beloved grandaughter. With the strong medical facilities and doctors we have in this great country he is is with us today, but faith did factors into this. Kids will always surprise you....

We were told in the very beginning it was touch and go and that we should always be prepared. We were, but prepared to spend the rest of our lives with him in it.

    Again, it is faith.

If there is anything you need from you HAMB family lets us all know...

God bless you and your family, and please, let us know Lily's progress!

1950effie, thanks for the words. Lilly has a whole gammit of problems since birth and it is getting better in time but every now and then something new pops up. She to had heart surgery to take care of a PDA (pulmanary ductosis arteriosis) which is an artery that closes at birth to allow blood to flow to the lungs, she had laser eye surgery due to her retinas detaching themselves from her eyes, she also had a cleft pallet and had surgery for that, a syndrome called "Kabuki Syndrome", as well as she feeds 100% by tube and just for the first time 5 days ago started drinking water from a bottle!!!! She has hypo thyroid issues, low muscle tone etc. etc. I could go on and on....... My wife and I have faith and hope that our daughter will grow and be normal to the extent that she can. The Kabuki Syndrome will be with her for life as will the thyroid issues. The syndrome has a host of issues that will make life hard for her and us but we're preparred to be ready for it.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and prayers. I will keep updates as they happen and let everyone know of progress.

Motoandy, we call her Lilly for short which is most all the time..... her full name is Illyanna.

Scott, hey that was a quinky dink running into you like that. As well it was great to see you again!!!!!!

Best wishes for your little girl. just have faith things are going to be OK.

I have dealt with a serious heart condition my whole life I was 2 yrs old when they found it. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) Dr. told my mom and dad that I would prob only make it to 6 or 7 yrs old at most.

I just turned 27 yrs old in July.
