Hey hombres I wanna put some new shock absorbers into my 53 chevrolet sedan. Now, does anyone know what Australian cars had shocks interchangeable with these early chevs? I would imagine there would be a few early holdens that used the same shock specs... Thanks in advance
None that I know of - they are an eye at the bottom, so the holes in the shaft to bolt them in need to be the same - and a pin at the top, like holdens. the only ones I can think that MAY go anywhere are FX-FJ
I worked for a suspension place in Brisbane called Fulcrum Suspension and did this kind of thing all the time...sadly I dont have access to the compressed and extended lengths any more but Im sure if you measure the ones you have now and your working height(distance between top and bottom mounts with vehicle at ride height),they could sort something for you...I have pajero shocks in my valiant..much better valving for the torsion bars...give them a call 07 38929000....they have a branch in Vic too...

My old Triumph sedan had rear shocks with a pin on each end. I wanted super heavy duty replacements and I could either pay a motza for aftermarket speciality rally spec shocks or go to Super Cheap and buy no frills brand shocks to fit a Falcon ute or panelvan. Same length, same stroke, same bolts. way less than half the price. Cheers, Glen.
