Where's the Drags

I'm new here, just joined in June. Where are the drags held at Joplin Mo. I am going and I already have a room reserved at a motel. I am just a spectator this time. I saw pictures and a write up in one of the 'ol school mags and it looked great. I should be able to find my way there if I know the location of the drags.

 

They are actually located past a little town called Asbury, bout 10-15 miles from Joplin.

 

Thanks for the info. I forgot to ask what is the admission fee for us spectators?

 

I believe the spectator admission is $10.00. And MoKan dragstrip is on 171 highway on the west side of the road about 2 miles north of Asbury before you get to the Kansas border.

Moparod, If you are driving on 171 between Joplin Mo. and Pittsburg KS. and see a line of cars about a mile long waiting to get into a field with one of the coolest old dragstrips in the country, surrounded by a huge cloud of tire smoke and the smell of gasoline, I'd say you're getting pretty close. It is a blast. Have fun. I know I will. Bringing my 2 sons, and meeting my Dad there. Does it get any better than that?
