Wife comes home this afternoon & asks me if I have a book ***led Hot Rod by Peter Vincent. No, why? Brand new, never opened, still shrink wrapped for a dollar! Sorry- I pulled the shrink off in my excitement. List price $40 & scored for a buck. She's going back tomorrow & calling me if there's anything else hot rod related.
It's my most favorite hot rod book that I have and the only one that sits on my coffee table. At $1 each your wife should buy every one they have and you could give them out to your friends at Christmas or birthdays.
That is definitely a great coffee table book. My mom was the queen of finding anything Rod related at used book stores. Books like that are great. My orginal Rodders Journal subscription was one of the only 'new" things she got.
Wow, a buck?!?! I scored mine for $10 and thought I'd done good You are really going to enjoy it, one of the best of the best!
It's probably only worth a dollar 'cause somebody's kid got loose with a marker on the cover. Seriously, I've got the same book and love Peter Vincent's work. Several years ago he was putting out huge calendars (they were like 2' by 3') that were all black and white photos of hot rods and customs on the salt flats and El Mirage. I think he only did that for two years, I miss 'em.

The All American Hot Rod (the last one) was a Christmas present along with the Gene Winfield book. Both are great...The first (last) one has some cool stories in the front.
My favorite is Andy Southards "Hot Rods of the 1950's" I can look at that book over and over for reference and have been for years. I talked to Andy and now he is offering his home movies on DVD.....man do they have some cool crs in them. if you are interested here is his email merc40@aol.com
I don't have that book- I'll keep my eye out for it. Yes- check the tables at local book stores. You might be surprised at what you find........ and cheap! She also brought home a book on muscle cars but I gave it to my son.
It's a small mom & pop book store, not a chain. They get alot of books from Barnes & Noble when they can't sell them.
When I drove out to Ohio last winter for a T body tub,I stopped off at Summit Racing and boutgh the hard cover "Von Dutch" by Pat Ganahl in the clearence section for $10.00
Wife just got home from work- 3 more finds. The Hot Rod by Dain Gingerelli. Soft cover, 96 pages of tradition. Had a special price on it, wife scored it for a dollar. Second up- Cl***ic Hot Rods by Bo Bertilsson. Soft cover, 128 pages of tradition. Crease on lower right cover. Paid 50 cents. Last up- Great American Hot Rods by Keith Harmon & Chuck Vranas. Hard cover, a whopping 752 pages of some very cool ****! Dust jacket a little beat up- she paid $5.00
My dad bought my son Dean (he's 4) a hot rod book last week at Half Price Books. He has been carrying it around since he got it. Over the weekend we found some of my hot rod mags stashed in his room, we're guessing for "time out" entertainment purposes.
