    Hello,
I'm new here but was "spying" for several months, Really like the HAMB!! I'm from Amsterdam, the Netherlands and drive a '64 Mercury ColonyPark as a daily:). It's a bit difficult to park a full size wagon around here but he, don't want to do without some old V8!!!

I got the Mercury because my BBC powerd '70 Firebird didn't had the space that I need with a just born baby girl. The Merc was sold new in San Andreas and was shipped to the Netherland about 8 years ago and was stored after aprox. 200 miles on the dutch roads. So before I could enjoy it I had to go true some repairs and maintenance...... Swaped the Merc-o-matic for a nice C6 and did a lot of other stuff.
I want to do some pinstriping on the Mercury so I got myself a couple of one-shot cans and some other stuff to do some "self-training". Any tips are welcome:D

It's running on propane!!!! In holland we call it LPG and it costs 1/3 of gas. And I don't need to drive it every day, I go to work by bike.
Getting parts fast is a bigger problem. There are no big junkjards full detroit iron like in the states....

Welcome from Deer Park, Texas ex Brit now over here. Like the wagon, my buddy back home has a 59 Mercury 2 door Commuter wagon. Had some great times in Amsterdam.

  9. Hi rdtreur, welcome from another 'Eurohamber' I know what you mean about running costs! I'm considering LPG too.
Nice wagon you got there, must be a monster on some of the smaller Dutch roads!
Your last picture....I thought you had been to a 'coffee shop';), 'till I realised you were pinstriping! :D

Well it's big but smaller than the '68 Lincoln Continental that I used to drive around:D. And the last pinstrip pic, it take a lot of energy for me to make a nice line.........
I'm not into the coffee shop/smoking thing, it makes me slow... I prefer a Jack Daniels:cool:

I can give you the "grand-tour" when you are in Amsterdam!!

  12. Apparently it's easy to tell the tourists in 'The Coffee shops' in Amsterdam.
They're the ones 'out their face' in the corner.
I realise there's more to Holland than that!
    I prefer a J.D. and ice myself.:D
I'm going to have a go at the pinstriping too.

Bedankt! Hoe gaat het met de Plymouth?? Heb je een sleutelruimte bij Amsterdam??

So I can make a trip true Scotland on LPG??? How about getting there, can I fill her up on my way up??

  17. Sure rdtreur. LPG is readily available over here. I'm pretty sure most Motorway service stations sell it now. It's still a bit rare in some of the more 'rural' areas.
Google is your friend......I'm pretty sure you could locate a list of LPG stations along a planned route.
I assume you can switch between petrol and gas,so you should never be stranded.

Affordable space to store a car isn't anywhere to find near Amsterdam. I'm member of the AMAC in Zaandam and for the time I work on my car I can rent a spot in the club garage for 50 euro a month! This is really cheap but this is not to be ment to be a carpark. So you need to work on your car from time to time... If you want any more info please let me know.

Normally I should drive the Plymouth to Rosmalen.
But I'm having problems at the moment... Worst case scenario: trailer-queen :)

    I'll keep you up-to-date!

    Grtz,
