My girlfriend (soon to be fiance) just bought this for me as a surprise, for our fifth anniversary. It needs some work but all in all trying to get it road worthy as we speak. Let me know what you think, and any suggestions would be great. This is my first Caddy so any insight into what I should expect would be great. My girlfriend's brothers helped her pick it up.
Looks like a solid car...I'd just clean it up and drive it...if you want to see how I built mine, go to: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build R-
Marry her first then start on the electrical by replacing all the harness and under dash, doors ect. Thats the week part of the big fancy cars.Get that done then start on the rest to get it going than take your wife on a honey moon in it--Hell of a deal--
I'd settle fer a cousin. Marry her. 5 years(?) dude, get it goin here. Dammmmm she's tellin you somethin. 5 1/2 years and she might be tellin someone else somethin. Buy that girl a 55 caddie size ring and dont look back.
Really nice, I got my caddy for my anniversary too. Caddys are great rides! although depending on what you plan on doing, the parts can either be non-existent or really expensive.
Thanks for the insight. I was looking at the electrical and looks like a rats nest. But that's not too bad. The only rust I found was on the rear bumper on the bottom of the exhaust openings, and a little on the p***enger floor board. It has been sitting for the past 15 years and the coolent needs to be flushed but the oil sure looks good. The seats have just been reupholstered and still need to be bolted in. If anyone has any idea where to get door panels for these cars that would be great, or I could just have a buddy sew some up.
Well, going to Hawai'i at the end of this week and, by the time we come back she should be happy with what's on her finger. She does have a sister(36 plus 2 kids) that has a project 64 chevy truck long bed with a new 350 just sitting.
