I did a search, but I could not find any metalflake spray paint that was as co**** as the now discontinued Seymour Paints Sunburst line. I know about the Dupli-Color stuff, it just looks like regular metallic paint to me. So does anyone know anything else out there in a can thats as good as the old Seymour stuff, or does anybody still have some old stock of the Seyomour stuff? If anybody here does I will gladly buy it.
No first hand knowledge but check this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=381753&showall=1
it isnt rattle can form but very cheep... i based the car with black then went to walmare and bought glitter from the craft area it came in a 3 pack of light gold, reg. gold, and a dark gold, 3 of them about as big around as a quarter and 3inches tall for only $5 and mixed 1 container to about 6 ounces of clear it came out *****en.. i also did the same with the red color its alot cheeper than buying flake from a paint store
Why not just buy a cheap HF gun and some of that Duplicolor "ready to spray" metalflake? Comes in quarts, silver or holographic...at most Schucks/Kragen/Checker stores..... Alot of the "craft store" glitter will melt when topcoated.
I used micro flake thats designed for RC cars. Made by pactra. Fasflake or something like that. I laid down a base coat and then a tack coat of clear. I literally 'tossed' the flake in the air and let it disperse onto the part. I haven't painted anything larger than a ceiling fan blade though... its tough to get coverage even.
UncleScooby used to sell some pretty slick stuff. I don't recall the name but if you drop him a note he may either still have some or can put you onto some.
and still no... Reply..on the 21st of last month i sent a message asking about this product..its now the 11th of august..Ive given up. I did how ever talk to BBobb, and he said you can get this same product off someone that has a myspace page..I suggest if you really want that product you should PM BBobb (or how ever his screen name is spelled) and ask him..he will send you to the right place..Nice guy and very helpful on how the product worked..he said it was nice stuff oh here I found it..the dudes myspace that sells the spray bombs..this was the guy that Bob put me onto let us know if he follows thru better..and how the stuff is if you use it http://www.myspace.com/kustompainting
Thanks for the replys so far guys. RICHARD: I have already seen that thread, hopefully Gambino can get in touch with V.R. Fink soon, i'll try to PM him as well.. CADDY- HACK & SINISTER: I want to avoid using a gun with flake that kinda co****. THIRDYFIVE: That looks great, but im thinking of doing a larger area. PORK: I was going to PM Unclescooby but I thought he never ended up producing the paint, so i'll PM him as well.
PAG88 its cool..let me know how you make out on that.. when im ready to pull the trigger on that part of my build , im going to get in touch with that dude on his Myspace page and get the product before they dig a hole and throw dirt on me
Why??? Afraid of damaging a cheapie HVLP? The HF gun will p*** any flake that's available....especially once you drill out the tip one drill size.
seems that Plasti-kote Metal Flake and Duplicolor Metal Specks are only ones on general market. try tcpglobal.com maybe there is something that you can use.
our local paint supplier will load automotive paint into a rattle can to spray. I don't know how well or if it would spray flake... but that might be an avenue to look at.
