I've got a running Ford flat 6 I want to sell but don't know the value or desirability of these motors.

    Anyone?

with a whopping 95 hp.. most guys dump them along side the garage and swap in a v8. I, on the other hand i like them, but i like weird stuff. There are almost no speed parts available.

You will have to fab your own stuff.

There's speed equipment. It's got more torque than the same year V8 and rated at only 5 hp less...you don't suppose Ford underrated it do ya?
I've got one inthe Model A I'm building. I paid $50 for it in four crates, delivered to my house!
    Lotsa inliner guys around.
You can probably get $100-$150 if it's got the manifolds and accessories etc still on it.

I run em' and like em' but then again I like stuff that just because most people don't. I did have to fab ALL my speed parts.
As far as what it is worth...not a whole lot. But they are worth holding on to because sooner or later a buddy will pick up a shoe box and they are are nice for getting the thing running around while you build the "real" engine.

And Dr J is right. Ford did under rate the horse power, but it comes on alot earlier then the V8s and putters out sooner. The V8s breath a little better than the 6s and have better top end.
Motor trend did a side by side 6 vs 8 and used a good anology to discribe the power curve of the six, "it's like lighting a book of matches, spectacular for about 2-3 seconds and then its out".

yeah.. finding a performance head.. near impossible.. there is one or two out there.. but they are big bucks.

reading the ford speed manual.. california bill ..

i gather that you throw a couple hally 94's on a log style intake.. throw a home made spilit manifold/header... and you get a considerable increase in horsies.. as they were really choked up.

But finding go fast speed equipment.. is near impossible.

I have two of these.. one of which is out of my shoebox right now.. i am fabbing a side mount for my engine stand so i can pull it apart and go through it.

one day when i get off my ***.. i will fab up about 10 sets of headers for dual exhaust.. and sell them.

i think there might be 10 of these engines running :)

finding gaskets is a pain.. i have a fel pro number.. but getting a store to order it.. near impossible.

still need a place to find the rope front and rears..
