Would somebody be kind enough to photoshop these into black & white?? (I don't know how). I'll bet they'll look like they were taken in 1959 or sumthin.
    Great shots BTW!

Thanks for the pics Nick, they take a little of the sting away :( Looks like you were in the Enola Gay hanger?

My buddy and I were just yesterday on our way home (we left a 3pm) that we were glad nobody was hurt or that there were only minor incidents while we were there.

    very sad.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Bryant family. At least he died doing what he loved.

A friend sent me some pictures from Bonneville from yesterday. This shot is of Ken Smith out of Nampa, Idaho. Ken and Nick run a C/STR and are on the HAMB under the name of Hot Rod Works. Good Luck guys!

The Salt Lake Tribune ran some photos of Barry's crash. In respect to the family I don't think I will be the one to post the photos here but can be seen on their web page. RIP Barry

while not a jalopy, a very good friend is out there running his 200idon'tremember dodge neon 4door. please cross your fingers for him.

i try not to be supers***ious, but his last name is anderson and he wants to hit 200mph. barry bryant was from anderson and died at 200mph.

this chick thinks that may be just a little too close to ominous.

if anyone sees larry and his neon (he just qualified for long track today at 179mph...wooohoooo!!! we just put the motor in last weekend), i'd appreciate any updates or photos.

    thanks

nick,I ran into you on sat. it was nice to finally put a face to the name.we had to leave earlier than anticipated on sunday.two of the three cars we were with had broken records, which was pretty cool.but it was devastating to hear of bryants crash on our way home, prayers to his family,I think they are a very tight knit family..it is very sad,but when you are out there you see the p***ion in their veins, this is what they live for.......and unfortunatly sometimes die for.god rest his soul.

well i'm still here. today was a little warmer than the last couple of days have been. the bmr roadster had a best one way run of 291 mph with an UNBLOWN c motor. that's incredible. the turbo model t streamliner wound up going 160+mph. quite the accomplishment. the crowds are starting to die down a bit but there are still a ton of cars in impound and in the pits. mmm what else... there are too many cars breaking too many records for me to remember them all! the bryant crash was very very unfortunate and is the definite low point of an otherwise near perfect event. losing another racer really hurts a lot.

here's to another three days of safe racing.

Yes, the folks that put out the B'ville calendar had alittle BBQ at the old airstrip Sunday evening. The hanger was open for viewing. The west side of the hanger was an AWESOME spot for photos.

Neato. The day I was there on the cross country trip the ROTC was training all around the air base so there was no breaking and entering for me! :D I hope they made a donation or took up a collection to give to the preservation society at the airbase. Those hangers, barracks and various other buildings are priceless pieces of our history being reclaimed by the desert salty air as I type this. They want to save it but it's gonna take a pretty good chunk of change, I wish they would have started their efforts before it got so bad :( Better late than never though!

Well, I'm back at work. Thanks for following along on this adventure. I hope everyone enjoyed the photos, albeit, from a cell phone!

I have a ton of photos and videos to download from my real camera and will get them posted on a new thread within the next few days.

It was great to meet a bunch of you guys and gals out on the Salt!
See ya on the next adventure!

Nick, sorry for hi-jacking your post. But, here are a couple of video's that I shot with my "flip" recorder.

The Bill Burke tank, first fire on the salt.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i1wrTRsRwHA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i1wrTRsRwHA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

366.689 MPH.......if your at work, use caution with the sound.....it will rumble your desk.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0PxDFNICk2A&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0PxDFNICk2A&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And a 2 minute video of a tech inspection that took over 3 hours because of the "Buick" in the background.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rp1Cyqve-OA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Rp1Cyqve-OA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
