This act is consistent for Garlits. Remember that he went to Vietnam to entertain the troops, and the Museum is an act of love for the sport...that he did this to help a fellow racer who is really sick is a real testament to the kind of person he is.

Big's museum is a must see...... When I took the kiddies to Wally World Land in '02, I escaped for a day of "me-time" and drove to Ocala. Wow, that was the highlight of two weeks for me!!!! Nice to see that the car found a good home.

Big Daddy Don Garlits is a gentlemen of gentlemen!
I had the pleasure to be in the cart that pulled him back at the Lil Guy Nationals here in VA. If you hang around his booth he will tell story after story, one better then the next.
And you are so right about why can there not be more people like this in the world. A lesson for all of us to learn!

Here's the car at it's new home. Not in the Museum yet. Probably because Don is thrashing to get the Challenger done for Indy. I'm sure it will be asap.

I saw Garlits run in Cayuga Ontario Canada drag strip back in the mid 70s. He was a legend then. Like royalty.

I've been to the museum 4 times and every time I go it just keeps getting bigger and better. Kinda like the heart of the man who runs the place. Thanks for posting this. I'll be sure to watch for the car the next time I get down there.
