Hi, I living in Germany and searching for some Parts for my 1955 Pontiac Station Wagon especially looking for rear and front leafspring bushings, a front discbrake conversion with booster and maybe a front end rebuild kit for the Pontiac. Any idea or suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you, best regards Alex(Belledriver) with some Friends:
Maybe somebody else can chime in, but that looks like the Canadian Pontiacs. If so, I think you can use the same parts as for a Chevy of the same year.
i agree, it appears to be a canadian built pontiac, they used the chev ch***is. check out this site too... www.canadianponcho.ca
Its an American one, front wheel openings are round, Canadian ones look the same as a 55 Chevy . Also there is too much length between the edge of the front door and the start of the wheel opening on the bottom of the front fender, this is where the difference in ch***is length is.
Welcome Alex! Nice looking wagon! There is a rebuild kit for the front suspension from Kanter Auto Parts.Don't have their address handy but I believe they have an online order site.Possibly they would have the leaf spring bushing kits as well. There is a member on here(Scarebird) that sells disc brake conversion kits for Pontiacs.Haven't done one myself but they are highly recommended. As for a power brake booster, they had them from the factory but they are pricey to rebuild. If you don't mind eliminating the defroster core from the firewall, use a set of 55-57 Chevy swing pedals and a compatible booster.
That looks like a US car. Just look at the length of the fender behind the front wheel compared to the 55' Chevy. On a canadian car they would be the same.
Are anyone have some experience with the Pontiac: 1955-64 V8 Low Profile Dual Quad Manifold (5162) from Offenhauser? I want to put it on a 287.
Dual quads are going to be overkill on a 287, it would net you more performance gain to round up a '59 389 and bolt that in, even with a 2bbl the 389 will move that car around like nothing. That intake is made to fit a couple of slightly different bolt patterns and cooling arrangements, you'll need to play with it a bit to get it on right.
