Flathead radiator with a 289 swap

I'm considering swapping out the original Flathead in my '41 Ford Coupe. It runs and starts great, but burns oil to the point that I either need to rebuild or replace it. It would be nice to have something more modern for long distance driving.

I'm looking at a deal on a 289 / C4 combo and trying to add up the costs of the swap ie. mounts, open drive.

My question is can the original radiator be converted to run with the 289? I know I could spend some big bucks and get a different radiator for the application. But just like most guys, I'm on a very tight budget.

  3. I had a hipo 289 in a 40 and the stock rad worked fine.

Cool what did you use to cap off the extra two ports?
