  18. I used to live near there, and I talked to him in the 80's and "not for sale" that was still the story when I went back there about 5 years ago.

Crying shame if you ask me.

Some people need to be drawn and quartered and have reasonable offspring who will sell these treasures to those who will actually do something with them.

in most cases the old ***** dies and the kids just call some *** with a crusher to come out and clear the land.

Best reason to find out more about his family if he has kids fine em and let em know youre interested.

Gotta hate the NOT FOR SALE a$$holes. Understood when it's one or two with sentamental value like in the fam for years and at least under a carport or in a garage. But when it's just out there turning to dust it pisses me off.

The guy took the time to save all this old tin years ago,,you have to wonder why he has never get any of it go,,

Maybe he thinks it will increase in value,,which I am sure he could reap a tidy profit at this point in time.

Reguardless, the cars and parts belong to him and until he decides to sell,,or p***es away they will probably sit there.

Utill the estate auction,,,then they will be fair game. :D HRP

I'm gonna throw it out there:

just think of it this way, at least he's keeping a stash which might get to be enjoyed by our childrens children.

There was a guy (mr gleeson?) in Napier, NZ who bought up all the unwanted parts from the closing gas stations in the 70's and 80's. He collected a lot of stuff over the years. I went to see him in the mid 90's to get some bushes for my 67 impala, which he had NOS ones, but it took him 15 minutes to climb over the mountains of parts. I actually thought he had got lost and was about to walk out when he came crashing back. Unfortunately, only he knew what he had, and he died not too long after. Good thing was, a young bloke had taken over and was trying desparately to log all the parts down before the old guy p***ed. Haven't heard much more about the place. Perhaps some kiwi rodders can shed some light on the matter..??

Logic escapes me when you hear people with this amount of old iron saying that its not for sale, what purpose does old iron rusting into the earth,on your property have? what increases in value when your aquisitions are rusting into the ground and becoming unsalvageable?..The more deteriorated the cars become the less they are worth.Doesnt make smart economic sense in a struggling economy. But then again there are countless amount of people who think like this.

20+ years back i spoke to the guy at a different location and it seemed that he collected them for the attention because he was pretty boring dude. the state or EPA will step in and they will disappear to new homes via auction.

Actually I don't want to see that...

It's a total waste, it'll all rust half way into the ground then get s****ped.
