I just bought a 56 Plymouth savoy with the original flat 6 in it. Does anybody know of any performance accessories that I can get? I thought about a header and maybe a dual intake. I'm not sure what size engine it is either? Any help would be greatly appreciated? This is my first mopar. Thanks, Phil

Stock engine is 230 cubes, 125 hp check out member olddaddy or rustyhope.com (Intakes, exhusts, disc brakes.) check out member moose for more exotic intakes and exhausts, and look in on the p15-d24 site for all things mopar flathead. and for flat 6 eye candy check out member blueskies web page. 56's are cool. I have a 56 engine in my 46 coupe dual intake shaved head .030 over.

The best source for speed equipment is www.stoveboltengineco.com Although they specialize in Chevrolet inline sixes, they also have speed parts for Plymouth and Dodge flathead sixes.
The first modification for your flathead 6 is mandatory but also the easiest and cheapest. Convert the road draft crankcase ventilation to a proper PCV. There are many ways to do this that do not affect the old-timey appearance of these motors. Second change is get rid of the oil bath air cleaner. Modify the stock cleaner to accept a paper element, or install something cool like Blueskies has done. These two changes eliminate grit from the crankcase that will run through your main and rod bearings before your partial-flow oil filter gets to it. These long-stroke motors are hard on their rod bearings anyway, especially at today's higher highway speeds, so be sure to attend to these things first. After that, skies the limit.

I wasn't going to say anything because I dont want to start slinging mud back and forth. That's not why I'm on here and that not why I joined the alliance. I have the same p***ion about this as everybody on here. I will say that yes, I was going to buy this car, but I only have 1 friend with a trailer to haul it back. We could not work out anyting to come get it. Kolor me kustom works only fri-sun, so it was a little hard to plan on coming during the week, but I was trying. Also, toward the end before I told him that I changed my mine, he started claiming that he had 2 other people wanting the car, yet he relisted it. So I guess that was a ly to try to hurry me up and get it. He then wanted me to wire the money to him and I could come and get it Saturday. I don't know about everybody, but I don't buy anything that cost that much without looking at it first. I'm sure he will say something smart back, but there's 2 sides every story and I wanted to tell my side. If he does, oh well, this is all I'm saying.
Yes, there are always two sides to every story, and what happened between the two of you is your business. None of us here on the HAMB were privy to the conversations or events that occurred. It's not the first time a deal did not go through for whatever reasons. The only thing we know is that in your first post you said you had bought the car. In retrospect, perhaps you should have said that you were thinking about buying this car and in the mean time had questions about what hop-up stuff was available. That might have prevented this thread degrading into a 'he said-she said'.
Your right, I do admit that I said that and now I wished that I would have waited to start this thread when I indeed had the car. I don't want to be a *** and I hope no one holds a grudge and will let this drop. When I do find another project whether its on here or elsewhere and I post a question, I hope peple aren't like, oh that's Philbilly and I ain't gong to help him.

I can understand Philbilly's position. He thought he had the car bought, so he referred to it has his. I'm not sure there's anything unusual about that. Then the deal fell through because of transportation issues. That certainly happens all the time. Anyway, the important thing now is that he still needs a project car ... something in his part of the country that he can actually get to.

The only thing not stock on the front is the GM alternator instead of the stock generator. The water pump is a stock pump for a 230 Cu in Mopar (Plymouth) Flattie.
