Hey, why don't the fellas on each side of this argument stick their drama where the sun don't shine and concentrate on steering this kid right... Sound good?

Anymore drama, either way, and you're gonna lose your account. So, you're choice.

    ..........

Now, kid... You are on the right track. You just need some steering is all. When you're young, you are prone to do things that us "old folks" don't really get. That's just how it works. Kids like to take things over the top.

That said, if you are really into traditional hot rods - you are gonna have to listen a bit your elders. I know, it stings... and when I was 15 there is no way in hell I could do it. But give it a shot and see what happens. If you take it seriously, you could find yourself way ahead of the curve.

My advice? I've always felt that everyone's first hot rod should be a purposeful one. Figure out what time period you want to build to and then build your car and don't put a DAMN THING on it if it doesn't make the car faster, handle better, or stop better. No trinkets, no "personality" adders, etc... Just build with purpose... and I promise you will end up with a car that speeewwwwssss a sinister look.

    Give it a shot.

Do you know what kind of ch***is your going to do? You going to build one from tube, or run a stock frame. I think a chopped hiboy chevy truck of that year would be bad ***. 283/327 dressed up 60's with halibrands, or american mags. Just stay motivated.

I think the original ch***is will work. I might put a 350 chevy in it.

Chevy frames are a lot stronger then ford frames. unless your planning on running big HP, no need to box it

3" chop, 3" channel spring perches in the split wishbone Z'd 11". My next one won't be so low. Have fun building and take some time asking questions to people that have dun it before. Don't get bummed, it takes time and just look at each thing you do as a small project. Don't worry about the HAMB ***holes. A lot of people on here are just a bunch of computer nerds that sped more time talking **** than in the shop working on stuff.

I have said it before, and I will say it again as many times as it takes.

Build the car that YOU want to have. You learn by doing.

And the rest of you crabby old codgers, STOP IT!

This kid is a resource, not the enemy. The future of our p***ionately defended pastime rests with HIM.

Tell him, show him, help him. It stops if we don't p*** it on. When the enviro-nuts come 'round to take our rides, we are going to need all of the help we can get.

Push the edges. If nobody is pissed, push harder.

if people didn't build things that you didn't like how would you know what you really like?
its like seeing an ugly chick next to a hot one, makes you appreciate what you like even more.

Here's a few pics of my Ext cab '34 ford. It's not that tough to do, just make sure you measure the hell out of it, brace it appropriately and pay attention to the proportions/flow. Good luck!

That IS good advice Ryan. Stay away from "crazy" and "off the hook" (is that the lingo?).

...and for what it's worth, if you are mentioning an early year of car without saying what manufacturer, then you are talking FORD. 'Cause, really, everything else kind of ****s.

    Kidding, only kidding.

This ****er is really cleanly built, nice proportions....

    Yep, study this one Laddie!

  21. Buy a Revell Model kit, mock it up as you would do the real one. Then transfer your ideas from plastic to metal.

Looks like a good find. I think a hopped up Chevy inline six with a four speed and a set of wire wheels with wide whites would look good depending on the era you're shooting for. Good luck and have fun.

Keep it simple to be fun, a good used 327 would make her fly.

I am building an old Chevy 261 six banger for the `49 pu. Even with all the speed equipment and machine work it would have a tough time keeping up with a stock sbc.

Old Chevys look best when built like the Purple one one SinisterCustoms photo. Chevys are far and few between.

im thinkin 4 inch chop, 8 inch z, and chanelled just enough to get it over the frame, but i dont want to raise the floor, i want to but it down inbetween the frame. im thinkin final paint will be a medium blue with silver flake and orange accents

I think you are going to do ok with what your doing. This is what I am building at the moment and sometimes things change so be ready for it....lol.....I three ch***is under this to get it to this look and now I am happy. As you can see it is a 1930 Model A with a 5" chop and setting on a 32 ch***is.

If it were my truck I would be looking at the Black 32 Chevy coupe that was built and get ideas from that or check out Plowboys chevy truck and you can get ideas there as well but like others have said it will be ok as long as you don't try to put useless attention getter stuff on it. The best thing to do is let your skills do the talking for you that will be the best thing you can do for yourself as a builder.
