Now I know who to blame for the slow connection at the motel! It was great seeing you again. Made it home safe, you have a good trip home and be safe.

  2. It's not just slow in Wendover Sweetie. Old Farts from LA to Suwanee have been complaining also. But of course Old Fart's always complain!

    Safe trip....

Dang, wouldn't you know it. I was in Boise last week. Would have loved to have been there when you were/are. Like everyone else on here who has not met you in person, I would have gone out of my way to find a way to have met. Someday.

Bye the way thanks for the reports of your travels, (all the them) makes those of us who can't be there feel like we are.:)

  6. Glad I could oblige! ... does this mean I should be checking my mailbox for a box of cookies? :D

  7. A shameless attempt to receive some of hotrodladycrusr's famous cookies :D ...

Last Sunday, the Ferguson Racing #76 Blown Fuel Ardun powered Streamliner bumped up the XXF/BFS record from 290.774 mph to 300.426 mph ... putting driver Don Ferguson Jr. into the 2-Club's 300 MPH Chapter!

The question I have is ... How did the Ferguson's get to use the number 76? ... I've always associated "76" with the famous Sadd~Teague~Bentley Bonneville Roadster and Al Teague's famous Lakester turned (409.9 mph, 432 one way) Streamliner ... I assume the Fergusgon's and Al are good friends ... but it seems kinda sacrilegious to see the #76 on a B'ville car other than a Teague car (albeit the world's fastest Ardun-powered 'liner).

Hey Denise, How bout an odometer shot from Big Olds? I didn't think there was a deadline for entering the sweet, sweet cookie contest so I was gonna wait until you left the Salt before I made my guess/entry! Looks like your having a blast, can't wait to make it back again someday.... Bryan

Well Al and Don are both members of the Rod Riders, and both are amoung the best of people you will ever meet. Al has sold the roadster and 'liner so I would guess he gave up the 76 number to the Ferguson family. A very good home for it.

  12. Hey Denise,

Heard a couple of dirty old men gave you a ride in the "Bonneville Bathtub" :) Dennis is my father in law and I went to the salt with him last year but wasn't able to go this year as his daughter and I are busy finalising things here in Oz so we can move back to the states next year! Awesome pics and event coverage, have you got any pics of his bathtub by any chance? I haven't seen what it looks like sittin on the salt :)

    Cheers,
    Paul

    Ok world.

She and THE Big Olds, just left for the next leg of their adventure. She is running late and it's all my fault.

Chris she should be at your place in about.......hell I don't know. You know how she is, she will prolly do some sight seeing, pictures, etc.. Anyway, she's headed your way.

  14. That's pretty much what I figured.

I've also heard that there's an obscure SCTA rule that all #'s are fair game once a vehicle has failed to enter an SCTA event for 3 or 4 consecutive years.

I totally agree that The Ferguson's 'liner is "a very good home" for the #76 ... but part of me really wishes that the SCTA would "retire" certain historically significant car numbers (like Professional Sports teams do for retired players that were a significant part of their franchise) ... I know, I know ... LSR is an Amateur Sport ... and should remain so.

I only caught a glance, seems to me it was somewhere around 90-100k. I wasn't really paying attention.

    Why?

  17. it was 96k and change when i saw it in Wendover....

    Sunday Aug 9th

We decided to wash our cars first thing this morning just to get some of the road grime off.

Then headed out to the salt and right over to "Dooley Corner" to hang out for abit before the meet & greet. Don AKA Power58 stopped by alittle early to say hi but was unable to stop again for the Meet & Greet due to racing committments. Great meeting ya bud, see ya at the PileUp.

HAMB folks started showing up around 11:30

Andy AKA Rebel Rat and his lovely wife Lindsey

Nick, Jeffrey James and his lovely wife

Steel Junkie, Stajaquada, and TomCat 46

Jeffrey James asked this dude in the motorhome if we could climb on top to take some photos and it wasn't a problem. Turns out he is a lurker on the HAMB.

Lots of folks drove their cars over to the M&G

Again, thank you Denise for allowing my mind to drift into a place of such happiness. Your coverage always gives us, that for one reason or another can't, a chance to enjoy this wonderful land through the lens of your camera. Yes even the simplest of shots matter.

If I ever hit the lottery you can rest assured that I will allow you to retire and travel your hearts desire. :D

Thanks for more great event coverage! Looking forward to seeing more of your pics from the road. The Pacific NW is full of awesome scenery. Be sure to check Multnomah Falls in Oregon off I-84 if you're around that way. Very cool.

How hot was it on the salt? In your pix it looks like you had storms, and people were waring sweatshirts. I always thought it was always over 100 degrees there this time of year.

Friday and Saturday were unseasonably cool and cloudy, in the 70's both days, I think. It felt close to 50 degrees those mornings - jacket/sweatshirt weather!

The sun was out Sunday and it was probably in the mid/upper 80's. Monday is was also sunny. My dad and I left around 2:00 and I'm pretty sure it had hit 90 by then...
