I noticed the pockets of people too, once that Rydell lot is full people have to go else where. I recall Reid saying that he checked out a number of restaurants along the boulevard that were happy about us coming back to cruise, and I do believe if you want the businesses in Van Nuys to support this cruising revival we need to patronize them.

Perhaps a complete list of places to eat, and exactly where they are located might help. I know some of us want to keep an eye out for our cars so nobody dicks with them, and some places along the boulevard have out door patios in front, like the Lamplighter for example. Burger King is also laid-out where you can eat inside and keep an eye on your ride.

One of the things that got this cruising idea shut down in the first place was all the people hangin' around in closed stores empty parking lots, so I don't think you can put an end to car guys wanting to shoot the shit, but, perhaps with a complete list of places to eat and talk might keep the businesses along the boulevard in our court.

There are small towns all over the place sponsoring cruise nights, some even closing the town down to regular traffic. There's only one reason that's done, MONEY. How many businesses have hot rodders saved from going under? I bet tens of thousands. My point is, we have power in numbers.

What is spectacular about VN Blvd. is it's grass roots beginnings, created by car guys who love their cars, and their way of life.

Nice to meet MCM, MsChevelle and hang with Rob (RSeghi) and his buddy Greg at Jack in the Box. Much easier to clean up this time around - Thanks to all those who didn't drop trash! If only the smokers can figure out what an ashtray is!!?
BIG thank you to Mrs VNCruiser and Jessie for getting there at 5 and staying 'til well after 11! Those little brooms & dustpans were magic!
    See you all next month!

I posted 'em. They're on page 82. Haha.

Holy shit that was you at Mobil. My cousins that went with me were talking about your car for a good 10 minutes after we left haha. I wonder how many other people from here I saw but didn't recognize. Yeah, I'll be heading up there next month for sure and I'll keep reminding everyone else to go.

I had a great time last night. There were soooo many people. I agree the lot should close earlier and get rid of the "conviences" roach coach(killer tacos by the way) and the hot dog stand ect. There would be less mess and restaurant's would benifit. I like the "pocket" thing where you can go cruise and hang in different areas.

Unfortunately, you got that right. I noticed several times last night vehicles showing up dropping off people-families, some with chairs, and more boulevard lookiy-loos on the boulevard too.

Just like the old days in some respects, except I don't remember families showing up in different places with their kids, and pets, some with chairs looking for something free to do.

    Another great night,
although it looks like the number of idiots has gone up from last month, and not all of them in import cars. had some clown nearly rearend me trying to do wheelstands in an black A body Mopar. lets hope this kind of crap doesnt get out of hand.

seemed like a lot more police out this month too, saw a few people in older cars getting pulled over.

At one point cruising on the freeway home, there were several of us with "louder than stock" exhaust systems going down the freeway in formation. Must have given people a thrill, no?

    :)

  25. COOL!!!!! That link has a few pics of my buddy's 60 Dodge with the green flake top. I sold him that car for my cost, because he's a really good friend. And he made me really proud with the direction and style he took with it. Mind you, he's a street race buddy from way back, and NOT a stylist. But, he sure had some great ideas for that car.

    Bitchin Old Drive In,
I took shots of it from the hill to the north of it. From there you can see the "still standing snack bar" and all around it,Constuction equip and storage. Could be saved;)

The turn out was great last, met some cool HAMBers and stuck around to pick up trash in the lot. Can't wait till next month!

  28. Hhmmm, Groucho needs to be in on this? Grouch? Where you at?
I would like to be there too.
