I have a pair of NOS aluminum heads for a 24 stud flathead part # C7RA-6050-B, My question is how far can I deck them witha 4" stroke and stock style dome pistions to end up with a streetable compression ratio? OR should I just mount them on the wall next to my 37, 21 stud aluminum heads and buy an aftermarket set of heads for the 48 Merc motor I am building.
With the junk gas that you purchase now there is no need to deck the heads, bolt them on and use them. Just check the valve clearance and piston clearance before you bolt them on.
Thank you for your reply, had a look at your site, I will be needing a cut down drive shaft in the very near future. Ford

Also...are they NOS Canadian or Weiand "cheater" heads for stock car racing?? Same look and number. Up top, Weiand is a bit cruder casting, usually has only 2 of the 4 small water outlets drilled and tapped, says "Weiand" on upper edge toward manifold where you can't see it when installed. Chambers totally different...I have CC specs on the real ones in Canadian service bulletins. Honest Charley Speed shop got hold of the last big batches og each in the USA in the late '60's, then Joblot sold of the remaining Ford ones.
No. Chambers are different...Weiand came with two different ratios, likely altered by now and likely not accurate at the beginning. Basically a normal Weiand head with no finds and slightly crude counterfeit Canadian markings. I've got the spec for the actual Canadian head at home...it was a bit higher comp than equivalent stock iron heads.
NOT all weiand, just the weiand sportsman, or 'cheater' heads which were intended to look stock to fool tech inspectors, and other racers
