I have a 24 stud flat head ford block with 59A cast into the top of the bell housing. The crank main bearings are the early 3.399 dia. What years does this cover?

Passenger cars from 1945 thru 1948. Trucks from 1945 thru 1947.

    The 5 in the 59 denotes 1945 and the 9 in 59 denotes 239 cu/in.

Pardon me for my blunder!! Should read 2.399 which is the main bearing diamiter for '36 LB blocks, '37 and '38 blocks.

All well and good thank you but how can it have the early, 2.399 crank. I just went out to the shop and measured again.

I figured this out all by myself!

It is an early crank in a late block. Main bearings were/are? available to do this having athe larger OD to fit the block and the small ID for the early crank!!
