Here in the states, we have a thing called "The Ba*****t Garage Door". The stairs never come into play until you walk downstairs.

Glad I could clear that up for our "Frost Bitten Northern Brothers"

its nice to have something in that kind of shape to start with. it certainly saves time and money trying to get it back to "stock" shape.

there is some magic about the first time an engine coughs to life after its been sitting for awhile. like you said,....usually grins and giggles.

  6. Ok I missed this thread somehow but the phrase, "Your killin' me Smalls":D;), comes to mind with your build plans. Might do some more research because I see a few telltale signs of an AR car and that would be a shame to butcher too much. Glad that you are staying on the Banger mindset though. You can do subtle things to lower the car a bit without splitting the bones. Check prior monthly banger meet threads for help. Its a little to late at night for me to search for the links at the moment. Looks like a very nice car to start with resto-rod. Please post to the monthly banger meet thread for all us banger peeps.-Weeks

New Coker skins, Snyder's exhaust, brakes checked, 12V stuff, etc... Runs like a sewing machine.

We are ready for the first trip around the block. After that, Shades of the Past in Pigeon Forge.

    Can't wait.

T-Bone has been driving the car around the neighborhood. I got to drive it today for a few miles. Can't stop smiling. There's alot to be said for hyd. brakes... WOW this thing won't stop for ****. Still a blast to drive, just alot of pre-planning on the stops.

People look at you like your driving a space ship. Most of them have never seen a car like this.

Fully understand the preplanned stop deal. I had a mechanical brake '29 coupe in high school. First thing i did was get the J.C. Witney spacer rings and put a set of '48 brakes on it. after that it was off to grandpa's and a swap for the '47 flathead out of the school bus that he took me to school the first day.
Now, 50 year later I've got Harrison's old '38 Deluxe and still planning my stops with the stock Mechanical brakes. Some things never change...........or just need to change like the old days.:)

The brakes should not be that bad in a Model A. Probably just some adjusting will get them in shape. I have mechanical's on an A and they will lock up if I push hard enough; stops very well.

  16. That so has crazy all over it (You can see it with this special CSI light), you do know its contagious? Wash your hands before eating or you will be licking walls and talking to light poles in no time!

    Otherwise great find.

    Doc.

PS, the 'Teeth' marks on this one are from when the crazy guy tried to eat it, thats gotta be worth some points in show?

Nice find. Put on new shoe linings, turn the drums and put in a set of Flathead Teds floater kits and it'll stop as well as old hydraulics for a lot less work and money.

I did it to my '35 and it's an unbelievable change.

that car is pretty damned amazing. I wish i'd had the money or space for it but I'm still biding my time and money for that 36 coupe that's tucked away here. Still a LOT of great deals to be found and this was surely one of them. Glad it went to a great home and glad to hear the plans for it. It's too cool to change much.

Flathead Ted is a guy from New Zealand that came up with a version of the old floater kits that converts the brakes into kind of a self energizing system. I know a '32 and an "A" that put them in and it was unbelievable change. So I put them on my '35 and I can lock all four up with not an awful lot of pressure.

Macs Ford Parts handles them. That's where I purchased mine from. But I had a few questions when I got into it and emailed Ted. He was more than happy to answer my questions and even wanted pics of my car. Very nice guy.

To make it all work well you need good shoes and drums and then a little work on the adjusting will do it.

Here's the link to Flathead Ted's site - from there you can read articles and see some film on how they work.

    http://www.flatheadted.com/index.php

I know it sure worked for me.

Thanks for the Flathead Ted's info. That stuff is on the way. All this info will be p***ed on to our '29 Sport Coupe that will be getting the same treatment. Banger for it too.

After a total rebuild and update of all the moving parts... The sedan has moved on to a life on the Golf Co****. Some rich guy offered double what T-Bone had in the car.

    Adios Amigo.

Now it's on to the real prize hidden in his garage....

Duuude, I just found this thread. Did you really sell off that Sedan? Damn that thing was nice. You got the good juju finding those things. How's the "A" pickup coming along? Did you sell that off too?!

True but you don't have the humidity and severe rust issues like a lot of us do either. Rattlesnakes & scorpions, you can keep 'em!
