My last thread regarding the perfect chop for my 5 window project is getting some input recommending to leave it uncut. I want to do this great little car justice and I definately don't want to devalue the car so I'd love some input. Is a stock height 5 window deuce worth more than a comparable chopped deuce?

It depends on how the chop turns out

I'd give it to someone else (me) and let them decide.

It depends entirely on the overall quality of each car. An over the top hot rod, and I mean over the top, will always be worth more than a bone stock original. They are not in any way the same thing, apples and oranges...........

Since you asked--I vote NO!! Nice car.
Now go back and finish laying the blocks down in your patio to keep the wife happy.

depends...are you gonna keep it or sell it?

If you're gonna keep it, I wouldn't worry that much about it, just chop it if that's what you want to do... 32 5w's look great chopped (but they look good unchopped too)

If you think you might sell it (particularly before you finish it)...then, I would not chop it...

Because, If I am looking at a car for sale, I ***ign more value to it if it is NOT chopped...That way I can do what I want with it, and I have the option to leave it unchopped or chop it the way I want to...

you could always do like "Deuce Roadster" said...get it on the road first, then if you decide you want to chop it, do it then.

You obviously don't have the stones to do it. This is thread #2 about this. You should already know if you want to chop it or not, your gut should tell you.

yes i agree with mr. ford

your car is already not a stocker anymore i could understand leaving it unchopped if you were restoring it and were worried about devaluing the car
id say for you to chop the thing, if it were mind first thing when it got home would have been me putting the tape on it and gettin the saw out, be careful though because if you do a terrible job then yeah its worth less for sure

chop it, i think the 5 inch chop from your other thread looked good

  14. How can you not know if you want to chop it or not!
Just leave it till your sure, its much easier to chop it than un-chop it.

If you want a car that is different than every one else then leave the roof alone, so many of these cars have been cut over the years that an un chopped car brings attention. I would let it be. If you are running a high boy then a chop might be needed A 3" cut looks great and still gives you head room, a little more or a wedge chop gives a mean stance I would not cut the car more than 4" total. the car you have is not a cheap car by any means so be very careful in who and how you cut that roof.
    just my two cents

Looks pretty close to being drivable, but there is no gl***. The hard decision for me in that position would be do I want to get it running and drive it for a while, then chop it in the winter and waste the time spent on the gl*** (having to re-do that), or chop it now and wait longer to drive it, but not repeat work like the gl*** installation and anything else that would have to come back out of it to do the chop later.

Personally, I would go ahead and chop it now rather than doing work twice by tearing it apart in a few months to do it unless there was a big meet I might be trying to get the car running to attend or something like that.

i sat in a stock 32 5w AFTER i bought my 32 5w, and i thought the windshield was on the small side. but mine is chopped 3 1/2 inches. i think the perfect chop is 2 1/2 inches.

If you're more interested in the value of the car, then sell it now and let someone have it that will appreciate it.

it all really depends on the style of build your going for, i have a chopped 32 five window and have been searching for an unchopped one for some time, i finally worked out a deal on one this summer and am going to go pick it up in a few weeks, i cant wait.

i love my chopped one but but unchopped ones too, there something so inocent about an unchopped five window, they all get chopped so my new one for sure isnt.

but like alot of people are saying, it all comes down to what you want, you can build the car and always chop it later, or maybe later you decide your glad you didnt chop it, who knows!

ITs seems like nowadays its all about the chop,A 4" chopped model A used to be the norm, now its a 5 or 5-1/2 chopped A thats the norm and a 4" chopped A isnt enough! its kinda funny, everyone is going to the extreme, i think stuff is getting overchopped, sure i like a chopped car, but when your start ****ing up the proportion of a killer car your in trouble! Bobbleeds chop on Silvia's 33/4 coupe is a killer chop, but not excessive.

    I vote unchopped!

    Here's another vote for unchopped,,

There are some excellent chopped 5-windows in this thread,,some I would love to own.:)

But my take is I've been building and driving hot rods for a 30 plus years and had my share of chopped tops,,,but I'm over that now,,at 6' 4",,and 59 years young I need a little more comfort and sight of vision is a must so my coupe will remain unchopped.HRP
