i want to drop my car about 3 or 4 inches just in the rear...any suggestions? i have a truck on air bags..i dont want that...i want it to be that low and stay that low. someone told me drop blocks?
I have an old skool friend who relocated his perches into the trunk,47 fleetline, rode like new, uggly inside but it was like an old cad, that is if you are in to that sort of thing.
Make some lowering blocks or you might be able to find some to buy. You'll need to find some longer u-bolts for the rear and a couple of blocks to go between the springs and the rear end housing. I've used square or rectangular tubing the same width as the springs. So you pull the u-bolts, which are holding your rear end in place, raise the rear end; by putting blocks in and using the longer u-bolts. Bolt it back together and it is done. Do this with the car on jack stands or on a lift.
You can buy a U-bolt kit that will make it that low. It may hit the frame at 4 inches. Posies will sell you springs for about $350 that will drop it 2 or 3 inches alone and they bolt in.
Anymore than 3" gets more involved. You could also dearch and reverse your springs, that cost's nothing. Do a search.
I used some lowering perches from RB's auto and added 2 more inches of boxtube to the bottom for a 4" drop and had no clearance issues.
buy a lowering block kit.If you go over 3 inchs you will have a problem with bottoming out when you hit bumps in the road.
You have a few low cost alternatives: 1) You can always pick up a couple of lotstolove ladies to ride around in the back seat. 2) Put on smaller diameter rear tires- think lowriders with 13's 3) let some air out of the rear tires 4) raise the front end As always- This is my OFFICIAL .02 Ed
